Blimey, the BBC forecast for Thursday is now showing dry for pretty much everywhere, snow now only for Northern areas Wed pm!

We will see.

If you keep it real and don't raise your expectations beyond what is being projected by the models and those that can interpret them efficiently then you'll avoid all the angst!

As for Saint, I have up on him years ago :)

R4 going for coldest spell in last couple of years from tomorrow. Snow mainly for North and west.

The BBC day by day forecast for this neck of the woods is the best in terms of snow that I can remember seeing! Granted, I'm sure it won't turn out that way but just for the moment it's a sight to behold - the snow symbols start middayish and go on right through into Thursday morning. Best take a picture before it disappears...!!

Because home is in the valley between the lakes and the pennines what often happens is that the snow falls all around us and seems to 'jump over' us, whichever way it's going whether that be from the west or East. Equally if its' coming up from the south is often also peters out so it will be interesting to see whether it's more productive from this north-westerly!

I am actually quite concerned about my work commutes we'd and Thur in Glasgow, again normally mayhem at a bit of slush on the roads so if there are heavy blizzard snow showers.... Disappointed by temps - screaming norther lies and Arctic blasts don't normally mean 4 or 5dc day times temps light winds and sunny to me

Great forecast from Kirkwood on the BBC website.

"Sleet on the coasts, but you don't have to go too far inland to see snow"

"Manchester will be sleety but Sheffield will be snow"

Has somebody forgotten to update the Met O contingency planners? Well over a month since the last update. Perhaps they are waiting until Feb has started, to make their assessment.

Mind you, they probably have other things on their mind at the moment!
