Big tower going up just north of here over the downs.
And if look at the 14:00 radar you can see it just appear.
Looks like a convergence zone establishing itself with associated convection going by the latest vis sat - approximately a line from Chelmsford over to Swindon. Would not be surprised to see cells kicking off in that area soon.
And indeed we have lift off. Strikes from a couple of cells in Uxbridge area

Must be fun and games for those travelling along the eastern end of the M40 (approaching London), especially as that cell seem to be running on the spot.
