Some very light rain at The Oval. Not enough to save England or the weather forecasters' blushes!

The heat is proper ramping up here now with a significant jump in the past hour thanks to the sunshine coming out. Impressive given I'm just a mile inland and we have a light onshore SSW'ly today. It must be hellish inland with these dewpoints.

Well in the end we had four or five big splats of rain followed by about a minute of very light drizzle which evaporated on contact. Still hot but the temperatures seem to be back on their way down now.

Temperatures again up to 29C today but it's also a lot more humid. At one point dew points at a local station almost hit 20C (19.4C).

Fairly cloudy afternoon with some sunshine also  breaking through..

Felt very warm here today light winds and 26.1c. The humidity is quite noticeable. The weather band broke up into a Mosaic of cloud types and deep blue sky. No rain.

Absolutely lashing down here now, yet still feels tropical. Summer in the UK, eh?

Lasted a good half hour. A proper soaking. All moving north now looking at the radar. A little less intense now

I notice Yorkshire Water are warning reservoir levels are currently the same as 1995, and that hosepipe bans are possible. They’re encouraging consumers to restrict usage.

Would be the first hosepipe ban in Yorkshire for 27 years.

This is clearly evolving differently to how it was supposed to. Alex Deakin last night was saying that 'by Wednesday afternoon' the front would push southwards over England with little to no rain to speak of'.

It's currently straddling South Wales to Leicester and unless those echo returns are showing rain that has evaporated by the time it gets to ground it's looking quite wet in several areas.

Bristol, which was due to be dry all evening according to the MetO at 5pm now has rain programmed in from 9pm towards 11pm. That's nowcasting not forecasting.

31.5C the max today by the looks of it, at Charlwood. Unless you count 31.8C at Jersey airport (which I don't!)

We are really desperate for some rain here in the east of Scotland (that is very well demonstrated by the fact that there was yet another grass fire on Arthur Seat here in Edinburgh), but we are still not getting that.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
