Well fairly sure I've seen my first snowflake in 5 years or so. It's raining here but every now and then an odd sleety flake appears so I guess this counts đŸ€Ł

Colder here than forecast. Currently 5C. I'm surprised as the Sea Temp. is 12.6C which insulates us.

Happy St. Andrew's Day everyone.

Here in Edinburgh, there is a covering of snow on the Pentland Hills to my south (which to be fair, is the first such covering of this season which I have seen from here), but absolutely nothing here in NW Edinburgh.

Light snow falling here in lowland Surrey after a crisp frosty start. Very seasonal

I'm all for weather warnings being issued whenever they are actually merited, but to dish them out in this manner in a part of the world where virtually nothing ever happens in terms of "interesting" weather is just ridiculous in my books, and the Met Office have been doing that quite a lot over the last month or so with most of those warnings coming to virtually nothing in the end.

It just goes to show that the Met Office is no longer fit for purpose. Those responsible for issuing this nonsense on a routine basis need to face disciplinary proceedings. A scandalous waste of taxpayers money. That is of course assuming that someone is responsible. Quite easy to believe it's a fully automated process with no human input and the warnings are just the 'garbage out'. Surely no human could be so moronic to believe a forecast of 1-3cm snow over mountains was even worthy of comment never mind warranting a warning. Even at low levels such falls in the past would have passed without mention by the local media.

I was at the hairdresser at lunchtime and the local radio station was on and the DJ was even commenting on it. Something along the lines of 'why are yellow weather warnings being issued for a few snow flurries?'

That's all we've had a few flurries and the temperature didn't even drop below freezing last night. Moreover it's the first November since 2015 when it hasn't dropped to -1CÂ đŸ€Ź

A picture from today to sum up this lame, pathetic, totally inadequate, sorry excuse for a cold spell that has brought the curtain down on this horrifically vile autumn.

The biggest joke is that was the snowiest spot I could find while I was out 🙄

Would rather have mild south westerlies than a continuation of cold, damp/wet filth off the North Sea which has gone on for almost two months nowÂ đŸ€ą

After last nights light covering, we have had another brief shower of larger flakes tonight which have settled on frozen surfaces....nothing dramatic.

This morning however I saw lots of cars coming in from the east and south of Edinburgh with 1-2" on them. Blackford Hill behind me has kept a light cover all day and The Pentlands are white.

This just typifies exactly why I have written on the signature at the bottom of all of my posts on here, what I have written here because this surely has to prove beyond doubt that "interesting" weather just doesn't generally happen here where I live, even in those very rare occasions when that is happening within the rest of Edinburgh.😡

Well Exeter had a period of heavy wet snow this morning, but nothing settled! However, Okehampton was dry except the odd flake. there was a light covering over Haldon Hill on way to Torquay. Also snow on a30 toward Okehampton.

Another one of those odd balls when Cornwall and coastal areas see more snow than inland Devon - We saw this in December 2022 & January 2023 last Xmas when Redruth, St Austell etc saw up to 4" of snow one morning on 12th/13th December 22 whilst parts of central and east Devon had nothing. Met office forecast was poor! They never forecast snow falling at lower levels and coastal areas  - let alone Cornwall. Snow was forecast for higher ground only such as the Moors. Poor met office forecast even less than a day out.,....!

Nice to see some snow though so i am happy with this.

Found this video taken in Cornwall of snow but unsure where....

The M2, junction 5, the Stockbury Interchange. The heavy downpour of rain, sleet, soft hail and ice pellets reverted to proper snow by the time it reached a few miles inland. Not that I'm envious, not at all! đŸ€

At 09.15 the rain transitioned to a sleety mix followed by 15 minutes of wet snow. My wife verified it !

Nothing major but all very fitting, festive and timely on this first day of meteorological winter.

It's snowing moderately here in Dartford, for the last 10minutes or so. There's a nice coating on the central reservation on the road outside my office window now. How very Festive! ❄ The forecast was for rain 😁

Frequent sleet/soft hail/ice pellet/rain showers here, each leaving some small amounts of slush on prone surfaces.

It's good to see the "lake effect" conveyor in action again, and it's a reminder of just how prone this location is in the right conditions. Just a shame it's not a degree or two colder!

According to the website of Swanston weather station in the south of Edinburgh, the snow depth there was 2.5 cm as at 9am GMT (09:00 UTC). I'm sure that Jerry from that part of the world won't be surprised with that in any way.
