The temperature at Dyce has peaked at 19.1°C but that is a SYNOP/BUFR station which is part of the same group of stations as Edinburgh Gogarbank, and which also has a WMO Code in the form of 03xxx.

As with Edinburgh Gogarbank, the actual maximum temperature is always the same as or higher than the highest recorded reading so, I still wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of the official maximum temperature at Dyce being confirmed as being at or above 20°C when that is officially confirmed by the 18z raw SYNOP/BUFR data for there, even if that appears to be fairly unlikely.

Meanwhile, the temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank appears to have peaked at 19.6°C so that both Edinburgh Gogarbank and Dyce are now in the same boat as regards to waiting for that 18z data to see whether or not the official maximum comes out as 20°C or higher.

There is only a 0.5°C difference between those temperature readings for both of those stations despite them being located in two different cities in two completely different parts of the country, and that only makes it very slightly more likely that a 20+°C will be officially recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank due to that highest temperature being slightly closer to the 20°C mark, than is the case at Dyce.

Given the Doc's earlier assessment, I have a feeling that he probably didn't believe earlier on that the temperatures would as similar to each other in both of those cities as they have ended up being.

Northolt 30.2C max and Heathrow 30.3C, so just pipped yesterday. Not sure if any of the smaller stations will have beaten that.

Still very warm here but the wind is picking up a bit.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 20.3°C although Edinburgh had already clinched its 20+°C with that earlier temperature of 21°C at Swanston which is now still confirmed as today's warmest part of Edinburgh.

However, Aberdeen missed out on its possible 20+°C maximum today as the maximum temperature at Dyce is officially confirmed as just 19.2°C.

It therefore turns out that the Doc was correct on both counts in the end (if anything, it was me who actually got that prediction badly wrong as I didn't think that we would get even close to 20°C here today given this morning's very dire conditions), though probably by not as much as he expected and his own part of the world did after all, more than make up for that with a temperature of 26°C from a few days ago which we haven't seen here in Edinburgh since the beginning of last September.

Calm and clear 17.9c following a very muggy night.  Yesterday we fell a little short of Tuesday’s 28c but still managed 27.4c and it stayed high until much later.

Another warm and muggy morning here, with the usual full sun and no wind scenario.

A fresher SW wind here now. It's just below 17 C and mostly sunny so a lovely start to the day.
Sometimes, in summer, we do much better in SW or NW airstreams. Hot weather in England usually means low cloud, fog and disappointment up here 😎

Here in Edinburgh, we've lost that wind from off the North Sea which we had yesterday and so, there's none of that easterly muck around this morning.

There is still some cloud around, but this morning is starting off on a mostly sunny note.

During last night, the temperature according to the 06z SYNOP data dropped to only 14.8°C which would have made last night our warmest night of the year so far had it not been for the fact that the official minimum temperature is actually measured from 09z (10am BST) yesterday morning and it was cooler than that for a while just after that time.

As a result, the actual official minimum temperature for yesterday was 13.3°C and that came through yesterday evening with the 21z SYNOP data.

According to the Met Office, today is forecast to be much cooler than of late with a maximum of just 17°C here in Edinburgh.
However, I believe that it will probably still end up being warmer than that.

As I write, we're already at around 16°C here in Edinburgh which is actually around 3°C warmer than it was this time yesterday and I wouldn't even surprised if we ended up with yet another 20+°C maximum which would be remarkable given that we couldn't even buy a 20+°C maximum up until just a few days ago.

Very noticeable cool down overnight. Still very warm and muggy when I went to bed, lay outside of the quilt. Woke around 4am and was chilly; pulling the quilt over was a lovely feeling 😁

Much cooler feeling already compared to recent days when we were already in the upper 20's by 10am.

The wind has picked up quite a bit here in Edinburgh now.

There's a lot more cloud around and the temperature remains stuck at around 17°C with a much cooler feel.

Here in Edinburgh, we now have occasional blustery showers and a temperature of only around 16°C which isn't even the least bit warm for this time of year any more.😡

Summer is over (well, for the time being at least)!!😡

We reached 18 C earlier in the sunny spells. However now we have a force 5 SW wind blowing frequent showers in and we are down to 16 C. Sounds very autumnal, poor garden 😫

Down in the south east this is the sort of day to please most people. For most of us the humidity has gone after a dry cold front came through and we now have clear skies, a fresh breeze and temperatures generally in the low to mid 20s. Currently 22C and sunny at Luton Airport

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 17.9°C and that was recorded during this morning, so today has ended up being much cooler than of late which means no 20+°C maximum temperature today (this is therefore the summer equivalent of a frost-free horror show in winter).

The radar maps show some light rain nearby to our west but for now, it's still dry although it's cloudy and still quite windy.
Currently around 13°C here in Edinburgh
