A relatively warm night, but today may well be one of those rarest of things: a day when it doesn't reach 20C in July! The MetO has a high of 17 and GFS has 16. We'll see... we'll need solid cloud all day to avoid a 20, I feel.
It's currently cloudy with a breeze from the west. 14.5, dew 10.5, after an overnight low of 14.2. Yesterday's high was 22.1.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 17.7°C which isn't all that great for this time of year although this is enough to show that I was correct to a certain extent about it warming up a bit during today when I mentioned that earlier on.

What I said earlier on about the current lack of rainfall has also been proved to be correct but we're now two days into this month now and to date, we haven't even had as much as an hour of sunshine in total during this month so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank which would be absolutely pathetic even in the darkest part of the winter, let alone at this time of year.😡

Currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

I didn't want to jinx it yesterday - but what an incredible day it ended up being! As you'll know, the only way to get a notably low daytime max this time of year is to get rid of the sun, but a July day with thick, overcast conditions all day is exceptionally rare.

We ended up having one here yesterday, with a bit of light rain to boot. That means the warmest temperature was actually overnight, winter style - 16.3C. The daytime max was 16.0, and there was a remarkably low noon (GMT) temperature of 14.9C - the warmest day of winter, February 15th, had a noon temperature of 14.1 and an afternoon high of 15.9.

16.0 is a good 6C below normal.

I don't expect a repeat any time soon. Today's off to a great start (12.2 at 6z), but today's high is meant to be a few degrees warmer than yesterday's.
Again, 6C above normal (28 for here) wouldn't make people bat an eyelid!

Overnight rain has cleared away but there is still a lot of cloud around to begin the day although there is plenty of blue sky around to my south and west.

Last night was quite cool with an overnight minimum temperature of just 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is just a rather cool 10°C.

After a dry night and largely dry summer so far, it's 18.1C, bright but cloudy with a moderate WSW breeze.
The next forecast attempt at rain from the BBC is: Turning wetter overnight into Saturday as longer spells of rain develop from the west, but these will clear early on to leave sunshine. We'll see if this forecast is any better than the previous ones for rain.

Dull and damp making the current 14 C feel cold and clammy. I'm not a heat lover but I'd like a nice drop of sunshine to gladden the soul.

I think that should tell you everything you need to know about just how crazy and mixed up our weather can be at times.😡

I noticed today just how yellow the grass is round this area - the school fields are looking very parched and strawlike, which is crazy after such a wet spring.
Only 16.8mm of rain since June 1 based on Odiham data, and just 1.6mm since June 16.

Luckily there was 3mm of rain earlier today here, and that will have done a good job of watering the grass.

A fairly bright evening here in Edinburgh with some decent sunny spells at times, but it's also windy with a number of passing showers and it's not exactly feeling all that pleasant out there.

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh but today's maximum is around 17°C which once again, is actually higher than what had been forecast for here.

Here in Edinburgh, a band of more organised and much heavier rain has moved in from the west and the wind has picked up a bit more as the complete non-event which is this so-called "summer" once again goes from bad to worse.🤢

In addition to that, the temperature has dropped to around 11°C, making it feel rather chilly for this time of year.

Happy independence Day to any Americans who are reading this.

Here in the UK, the polls will be opening in around half an hour for the UK General Election and here in Edinburgh, today has started off on a bright and sunny note.

It's still quite windy though not quite as windy as yesterday and this morning has also started off on a cool note with a temperature of only around 9°C here in Edinburgh.

The heating has come on this morning. I'm not surprised with such a windy night and the temperature down to 7 C (< 17 C in the house)
It's a beautiful sunny start for the early voters though and it's already reached 9 C 🥵

I've just been out to vote and it's still very windy out there which is still continuing to make it feel not even remotely like summer in any way.😡

However, the temperature has gone up to around 12°C here in Edinburgh in that sunshine.
