Good afternoon folks,
Here we go again for a Sunday snowday :
Special weather statement in effect for:
A mixed bag of snow, ice pellets, and freezing drizzle for Southern Ontario this weekend.
Disturbances tracking southeastward along a sharp Arctic front stalled over Extreme Southwestern Ontario will bring active winter weather this weekend.
Over the Golden Horseshoe, light snow is expected today becoming mixed with freezing drizzle tonight. More significant snow will develop over the Golden Horseshoe Sunday. For Southwestern Ontario, light snow in some areas today will become mixed with freezing drizzle or ice pellets tonight, then becoming snow Sunday. Over Central and Eastern Ontario, snow today, tonight, and Sunday.
Snow will end Sunday night over Southwestern Ontario, and early Monday over the Golden Horseshoe and Central Ontario. Snow will persist through Monday over Eastern Ontario.
Snowfall amounts are expected to generally remain below the warning criteria of 15 cm in 12 hours. The exception could be areas near Eastern Lake Ontario and in Niagara region, where snowfall warnings may be required for Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.
Poor driving conditions will accompany the precipitation.
Please refer to the public forecasts for further detail on precipitation timing and snowfall amounts.
This system or series of is still fairly un-organised and it will depend on timing and how it comes together whether we see lower snowfall totals due to mixing with freezing rain or ice pellets overnight.
Looks like another wintery Sunday regardless for the GTA and Golden Horseshoe and then there's late next week. Bitter conditions expected to develop across Ontario, unusually cold for February TWN looking at -15, -20c by day
and upto -25c to -30c overnight.....Calgary temps here basically. We've had a few -20+ mornings but nothing of those levels by day, it could be brutal one to keep a watch on as the new week starts.
Have a great weekend everyone
