Great pics Michael. Amazing spell of weather for millions. -10c w/c of -20 today in Hamilton with light snow flurries. Down to -23c overnight and again tomorrow night, just stunning. For the first time in a long time Niagara Falls (American Falls) has completely frozen see below :

There's no maid of the mist on the Niagara river, some of the pics Reuters took from the American side make Canada or Ontario look like a frozen wasteland which is fairly accurate given the overhead temps!

Amazing incredible stuff, needless to say all of the GTA and Southern Ontario under an extreme cold alert. When it all melts, they'll be trouble

Take Care

It doesn't look like the classic New England White Christmas this year for that region. Even further north into southern Canada, Toronto, Montreal etc are struggling.

Looks like Quebec city won't even have a White Christmas which is normally guarenteed. The snow cover currently present is unusually thin and a result of very.mild conditions so far this winter. It will certainly melt given Tuesday to Friday will be above freezing and as high as 11c on Thursday. Will be next weekend before winter returns. Average high should be -6c in late December.

Some remarkable warm temps being progged for Xmas eve...fascinating stuff. Who would have thought temps in the 20s would be widely seen in the eastern states 22c in Boston ! They certainly do extremes !

Interesting video from AccuWeather! - Looks like the entire easrern Seaboard of the USA - from mid west/Chicago EASTWARDS - will be 20' above seasonal average:

http://videowall.accuweather.com/detail/videos/trending-now/video/937434192001/record-warmth-for-east-heading-into-christmas?autoStart=true&utm_source=accuweather&utm_medium=accuweather&utm_campaign=localforecastvideo

We have been 5 or 10c above seasonal average but imagine 20-25' above normal? - We would be experiencing temperatures of +25 - 27c haha!
