It's disappointing to hear the media claiming worst snow in a century etc (again).
It's as if they have the memory span of a goldfish.

Not sure where they're getting 100 years from. The above was all over the news at the time as well and Washington received 33 inches during that particular event. Snowstorms of this magnitude really aren't that uncommon even in that part of the US.

The live clips don't look particularly bad to me - we've had worse in recent times. Those 'Mercuns do love a drama, though...

We see it here too with stock shots of snowploughs scraping an inch of slush of a motorway, but over the moors there are cars buried in 10 foot drifts.

Let us not forget they have another 24-36 hours of snow due and witj snow rates of 1 or 2 inches an hour this will build up. Very jealous, the streets of DC are empty! Not a person or vehicle in sight. Now if we had that here, every man and his dog would be trying to drive.

just checking out the situation in NYC this morning. Snowfall rates currently 2in/hr at JFK and the Weather Channel has upgraded its forecast dramatically overnight from m around 10in to 18-24in by this evening. Jonas really seems to be cranking up and with sub zero temps and 50kt winds it's going to be a tad chilly.

just about to pop out and see what's happening.

will keep you updated.

Snow time

Just headed out for brekkie and snow rates have really ramped up here in NYC. Roughly 3in in the 50mins or so I was inside. Added to a 39kt wind it's proper blizzard like.
