Well I needn't mention Goldman Sachs or Vodafone. Still, it least keeps 'Arry out of the way for part of the transfer window (shame the trial didn't start at the beginning of January). Which of course lessens the chance of us signing some crap ageing foreign player looking for a final payday. So I can be thankful for that.

Harry Redknapp to face trial for tax evasion *thumb*

Right, I'm not known for my soft views on tax evasion/avoidance (in fact, at risk of turning this into a UIA-style bunfight, I want to see zero tolerance)

Tevez really is a little shit.

If I were Citeh, I'd just keep fining him 2 weeks wages every time he didn't fulfill the terms of his contract - ie, to turn up for training & games (with the stiffs, obviously). I know they're not exactly poor, but why should City have to forego a transfer fee just because the spoilt tosser is embarking on the most blatent attempt to engineer a contract cancellation in history?

Surely Man City must have a case to sue the player and not just fine him a couple of weeks wages?

If City cancel his contract, he can legally sign for another club without the need for a transfer fee to be paid to City (damn you, Bosman). So City lose £40m. Additionally, another club strengthens their team by picking up a top class player for nothing.

If they did sue him, would they likely recover £40m? Doubtful, even though he'd pocket a massive signing-on payment. Saying that, it's a nice thought to take him for every penny he's got and send him into bankruptcy.

Instead, I think they should just keep fining him 2 weeks wages every time he transgresses. The likely result would be that City just stop paying him, because he'd keep breaking the terms of his contract. And, if he did turn up when required, City could then make his life there so hellish that he'd be driven to go whingeing back to Argentina and break the terms of his contract...

The solution would be for another club to pay City what they value him at. £40m. If Tevez is so keen to move but feels the fee is restricting the ability of clubs to afford the transfer fee plus his wages, he'll accept a much-reduced contract.

Poor Gary Neville. He found out on Sky's A League Of Their Own 4 that 2 of his ancestors (great grandparents) were born in Liverpool making him a scouser

Suarez charged by the F.A.

Presumably he'll soon have plenty of time to dive around on the rug in his front room.

Do you know what it is, Merc? Evra says the cameras show Suarez saying it 10 times, but I'm none the wiser.

Blatter says racism in football is alright as long as everyone shakes hands at the end. Time for the whole of football to call for this corrupt freak to resign. This could be the moment he hangs himself for good. Naturally nothing will change within the corporation, but at least he'll be gone, which makes me happy.

A dismal day here in L.A., given the heavy rain. Still, my day was brightened to some extent by the Chavs going down to the Bindippers, although I would have preferred a draw. Still, beggers cannot be choosers.

As for AVB, the noose tightens. The Russian crook isn't going to take this lying down.

I suspect the Russian crook is getting bored with his plaything. Perhaps he'll sell up leaving the club to deal with its sea of debt. Easy win for Spurs

Spurs continue to surprise me. 'Arry might be as crooked as a Russian oligarch (well, no, he's not nearly so crooked) but he seems to get the best out a bunch of players.
