Some delusional twunt (I think it was Redknapp) said on Sky that he expected Everton and Liverpool to be 'near the top', come the end of the season. Why is that? Is it some God given right?

On the evidence of what I've seen today both clubs are where they should be in the table.

Disagree about Everton. They've passed, moved, fought and looked dangerous. Liverpool's defence is rarely going to ship 3 or 4, but you just can't see where any goals are coming from if it isn't Gerard or Torres.

Take out the 'disagree about Everton' quote and I would entirely agree with the rest of your comment. The fact that I do merely reflects the opposition in front of them. Everton would struggle against higher quality teams that can pass better and have more muscle.

But not relegation fodder, which was the point.

I don't believe I made that point. I merely implied the table doesn't lie and I can see why. Both teams at best are probably mid-table outfits, and that's being generous.

EDIT: quality from Arteta

Ahhh...as Everton were joint bottom and you said they were where they should be I took that to mean that they should be joint bottom. Silly me.

Great goal by Arteta. Liverpool a shambles.

If it carries on like this the Liverpool fans will no doubt be starting up a 'Henry Out' campaign by 4.30.

He was smiling early on, but looks a little more concerned now, for sure.

Webb is a tool.

Beckford gets booked for a far more innocuous tackle (I assume it was for the tackle) than the one Sshteevie G commited in the first half. Gerrard isn't a dirty player of course.

Alan Sugar on Twatter.

''liverpool problems I think Hodgson was bad move.Players not playing for him. bet he's sorry he left Fulham he was big cog in small wheel''

On a more pertinent point though, Robbie Fowler claimed on Sky that the Leeds team that went down in 2004 was better than the current Liverpool one.

Leeds team the day they were relegated in May 2004.

Leeds: Robinson, Richardson (Radebe 82), Duberry, Kilgallon, Harte, Kelly (Wilcox 73), McPhail, Matteo, Pennant, Smith, Milner.
Subs Not Used: Carson, Barmby, Winter.

Delusion is usually the next phase of a collapse:

http://www.football365.co.uk/story/0,17033...6450077,00.html

Asked if his side were outplayed by Everton the Liverpool boss said: "That's very unfair.

"We suffered at the hands of an early onslaught which you invariably do at Goodison but towards the end of the first half we started to even things out.

"From what I saw I thought we dominated the second half totally.

"I thought the shape of the team was good, the quality of our passing and movement was good.

"We didn't score goals and Everton did but I refuse to accept that we were in any way outplayed or any way inferior.

"I watched the performance and the second half was as good as I saw a Liverpool team play under my management that is for sure."

Well a couple of well known pundits on Sky thought Liverpool were very poor 2nd half, so what was RH watching. They lacked fight without a doubt

Most Liverpool fans on the phone in have already lost patience with Roy. While a lot of them accept that RB left them with a fairly poor squad, they expected to be in a better position than they are in the league now.

What is going on now reminds me of Juande Ramos. He didn't become a bad manager overnight but was simply (self evidently) the wrong manager in the wrong place at the wrong time. I saw a similar lack of passion from Liverpool today that I used to see with Spurs.

Another draw for Sunderland last night, fast becoming the draw specialists of the division but we really should have taken all three points last night. I agree with Bruce that we don't have enough alternative scorers in the side and that we rely on Bent too much, but it's his team and Cattermole, Henderson, The Egyptian and Steed have never been goalscoring midfielders so what does he expect. It took 30 minutes from them going to 10 men to him bringing Gyan on and why did he keep Welbeck out on the wing????

Liverpool are in for Rooney according to the following report -

'Talking to Roy Hodgson last night and he told me "Wayne will be here soon". He then walked off as the heavens opened'.
