It seems to me that the whole feature is moving incredibly slow which is at odds with the revised warnings.

Intensity lessening atm - not increasing according to Meteoradar

It's been raining all morning in Swansea, but it's now turning to snow. Wasn't expecting this but it's been heavy rain and not much wind, so assume it's evaporative cooling? I'm close to sea level so it perhaps bodes well for other areas.

Edit: slightly higher parts (50m plus) reporting the classic huge flakes you get in marginal situations

You’re looking at Thursday but I’m still pinning my hopes on tonight and tomorrow morning.

EURO4 and GFS have consistently modelled a small but intense streamer pushing through parts of Merseyside, Manchester and the Peak District from about 3am, peaking about 6am, and potentially lasting into mid morning. 

Your commute could be interesting, or, knowing how fickle these events can be, it could be extremely boring. 😃 I’m using this as a right royal test for this model. GFS (para) too.

The automated forecast for here says sleet between 7pm and 8pm turning to moderate snow sometime after 9pm, tapering off sometime after 1am.  It may be just that you're a 100+ metres lower.

I think its still likely to be a rain->snow event for most but cold air is going to undercut the front so I fully expect the rain->snow transition to shorten as the band moves SE.

I usually find the @LondonSnowWatch account on Twitter to be quite close to the mark with snow risk. East is best today:

This is the dividing line between the cold and milder air. Behind it colder air is undercutting and I would expect the precip to be mostly falling as snow (except in the SW, coasts, lighter bits e.c.t.). Ahead mostly rain at this stage.

I still expect ~10cm on the Downs tonight roughly above 150m.

This is the problem with cold occlusions. In fact, ironically, any front with 'cold' in it sucks when it comes to snow potential.

And this is one of the better ones!

Nevertheless it does seem most places are still going to see snow today. Going to be very wet though.

Well for what it's worth there's a bit of sleet mixed with the rain here, not a lot but it's slowly changing. My guess is this band of precipitation will be mainly rain for here but may turn to snow for you guys further east. temperature is currently 3.7C which has dropped from 5.9c at 12:30pm. Good luck.

Thursday into Friday is the only hope and then it won't last more than a day or two if the ECM has its way.

A brief heavier burst at the moment is bringing with more sleet but I think the front is soon to clear so I've given up now on seeing snow cover whilst up here.
