Depending on your age it's more accurate to see the fall in the markets as a great opportunity to boost your pension pot, as your monthly contributions will buy more shares. It's only a problem if you're about to retire and haven't taken steps to de-risk.

10 years for me, so plenty of time for a recovery in the pension (although the closer you are the bigger the hit).

The lack of cases in India is interesting. Although IME workers there would be reluctant to tell their bosses they were dead.

Let's remember, its been said many times - its the additional pressures, impacts on supply chains etc that will cause the issues.

This is why I was happy we got brexit done. The hysteria from the left was far far worse than the measured and balanced comments from those of us who believe this current outbreak should be taken seriously.

And if children are not affected, why the hysteria about closing schools?

On the plus side (for young folk who want to buy) property could become a lot cheaper if we have a mega corona-cull. Supply and demand would be radically altered.

That's the deregulated sweatshop economy the Tories want to inflict on the entire country.

If you were forced to remain at home and not work, I would surmise that you could claim benefits.

Taking those who can work from home off public transport, would be sensible however, since it would reduce the rate of new infections.

Children may be unaffected - although I don't know if that's completely accurate - but they can be carriers.  Just like all the other bugs children carry back from school to siblings and parents, do you really want that risk?
