The first couple of towns in Italy to enter lockdown are seeing things improve with no new cases for a couple of day's now. The rest of Italy is around 1 week into the lockdown now. You would expect (hope) to see a slow down in new cases/deaths here over the next week.

Italy will improve as they are further along the curve than the rest of Europe. Other countries, like the UK, haven't started to peak yet. May sounds more realistic IMO.

In my case, because I'm in an at risk group. And because this is the week when huge numbers of infections will be taking place.

No country or for that matter the WHO has put forward any plans on how to safely "emerge" from lockdown. In reality a 2nd big wave is a very real possibility, although I suppose a country could bounce along between lockdown/emergence until either herd immunity is achieved (which will depend on how many have not contracted the virus before lockdown) or a vaccine is available (probably 18 months). 

For the UK perhaps but I think that we would all feel better if we saw things improve in Italy. And I would be optimistic that we will begin to see results there by early April. 

I really think that Boris is taking the wrong approach in assuming that mass infection is inevitable. China has shown that this is not the case. I doubt that what they are doing in Italy is any less rigorous than what they did in China. 

SK is not on lockdown. They've controlled it with massive testing and assiduous contact tracing. We have a model.

But what we don’t know yet is if there is a 2nd wave. China kept their virus primarily in one area but there is now the risk for them that it comes back again, and that is what this government is trying to avoid.

I've developed some minor symptoms (it's because my GF is nowhere near as meticulous as I am, so don't worry too much that 'even Q got it' e.c.t.). I'm not convinced I actually have COVID as all my symptoms are intestinal but will keep you posted. No cough or fever as of yet.

Whilst severely restricting the number of tests to a tiny minority of potential infected, the number of confirmed cases is deliberately massaged to a minimum.

No openness, no transparency. 

Is that 1.5k less tests that the day before then. What happened to the 10k of tests the government claimed to be doing?
