Agreed, the numbers seem grim. On average it takes several days for symptoms to appear, then a few days longer for escalation to pneumonia (mostly for the vulnerable ones), then patients usually stay in the ICU for weeks before they die.

This is all pretty speculative, but for many cases we are probably talking a lag of almost a month between someone vulnerable being infected and dying.

Yesterday we received reports of opportunists taking advantage of the current Coronavirus pandemic, by posting flyers through doors in Bishops Stortford, requesting food donations for the YMCA foodbanks, unfortunately it’s sad to report that this is a scam. The YMCA have not been involved in this initiative.

And I didn't make the obvious follow up: this is why it's so wrong for the govt to be wasting time now, every day counts and will impact the ICUs 3-4 weeks later. OK they might have had the wrong advice and strategy last week, but not since last weekend, they shouldn't be wasting all this time now. Every measure should be taken to stop socialising.

A positive aspect I was thinking is that London is less densely populated than Milan and even less so than Wuhan. Many more terraced houses here even in the centre, lots more suburbia, more gardens, more parks and also quite a few empty houses of the foreign rich. Let's hope this makes us less of a hotspot.

If we can just create £350bn out of nothing, why did we have 10 years of austerity which led to the premature deaths of 100,000 poor people?
