This is where every country on Earth will be until we achieve herd immunity from either a vaccine or sufficient numbers becoming infected.

There are also some worrying signs of some disastrous outcomes among younger people in the UK. I think the data will need investigating as quickly as possible and Whitty will need challenging again.

I see there are rumours that Anthony Fauci is out of the frame because he has p1ssed off Trump. That would be a shame and a big loss for the US. After a step forward in recent days it appears Trump has found reverse gear. Hopefully he'll come to his senses tomorrow.

Yes, I noticed that. 

The mortality by age  stat  is heavily influenced by health conditions becuase the older you are, the more likley you are to have underlying heath issues.    However, some younger people in poor health  (obese, lack of physical condition, smoking all kinds of crap, etc etc) are  also likley to fare badly with this.  Then there is the random variable of  the individual constitution and how it will react to the virus.

Although I'm not in the  high risk age group, have no underlying health issues, don't smoke and not over weight, I'd still rather not get this bloody thing if there is any possible way to avoid it  !

You have to conclude this 12 week figure was incredibly badly judged. The experts shielding Boris didn’t share the enthusiasm and that was clear. 

If they have any integrity they should resign.

The empty promises have as much integrity about them as Bozo & Rasputin. 

I'm now seeing clients beginning to receive formal requests for payment extensions. A case of manufacturers and B2B suppliers having to fund the income shortfall of their buyers.

This is going to be carnage. But for a few select sectors - supermarkets principally - it will mean mega-profits.

I concluded some days ago that the raw data on mortality was pretty useless as a means of trying to work out the risk to any individual in any particular age group. My hope is that the risk to fit and healthy people is quite low and very low amongst younger people.

Reports around here of petrol stations now running dry. Since no one is going anywhere what the hell is happening to the petrol / diesel? Has someone started a rumour about it being a cure?

A work colleague has a brother on one of the rigs and he warned him at the weekend they are struggling to get  anything close to the demand 

This to me is a real problem and all Johnson is done is stand up and say 'don't worry, supplies are fine, no reason to panic buy'.

It is clear, much to my chagrin, that people in this country cannot be trusted to stop this by themselves.  I am extremely disappointed in the people who have cleared shelves, there is no excuse.

I am also disappointed that the gov't and supermarket collectively have not sat down and worked this out. I actually mostly blame the supermarket leadership.  I read today supermarkets are basically all going to adopt the Aldi/Lidl model of reduced lines per product. This should have happened weeks ago.  The restrictions have been far too late and far too generous.  It is now the position that supermarkets will probably have to be policed properly by the Police.  I also have no idea how people are storing all this, I can only assume they will eventually run out of space and money.

I have not done any panic buying despite have 2 young children, because I don't want to be part of the problem.  I've been rewarded with empty nappy shelves for my 1 year old son. No woe-is-me though, I saw this coming and should have an online (not excessive) delivery tomorrow, otherwise my son would have been shitting into his pyjamas from about Sunday.
