A definite positive I've noticed is how much the quality of deliveries have improved. The staff seem more friendly and helpful, more smiley. I put this down to the fact that people are appreciating them more and they feel more highly valued in the sense that they are still working, taking a few risks (although not procedure wise - they have been immaculate) and now feel they are performing an essential service. All normal people respond to being appreciated and hopefully this attitude will continue from both parties.

When it is time to start lifting our restrictions I would like to see there being more thought to allowing enjoyable activities. It seems there is some kind of pleasure police out there that seem to think any form of enjoyment increases transmission risk automatically.


So to that end I would like to see obviously low risk activities like fishing, tennis and golf, as examples to be allowed. I would have stipulations like clubhouses cannot be open and social distancing must apply but that would be simple in those instances. (And before anybody questions "pleasurable? "  I don't participate in them myself, well apart from golf occasionally!

The best was my wife got a new iPhone and I insisted on quarantining it for 2 days.

Bit of on-the-ground information.
After a referral from my GP on Monday I went to the County Hospital today to an appointment in "Outpatients". That was quick! The hospital car park was relatively full in contrast to when I drove by a few weeks ago. When I reported - a tad early - I was asked [nicely] to wait in my car until the exact time of the appointment, as they did not want more than 4 people in their relatively small waiting room. This was a perfectly reasonable request which I could have anticipated if I'd thought. A Receptionist was behind a screen at a "taped distance" and masked assistants were directing patients. All staff were masked and those "in contact" were wearing what I would term basic PPI. Lots of the public were masked - I was not. There was a calm but quick turnover so no one was kept hanging about. After a preliminary interview with a nurse, I had diagnosis and treatment from the Consultant within 5 minutes. As far as I could judge a steady flow of conventional patients was passing through - we were not the Covid-19 gang. The system appears to be working reasonably well - at least in that department.
There was quite a bit of traffic in Lincoln itself, but the country roads were fairly empty.

I really hope so,iam gagging to go fishing again. Totally agree with all of that and it would be sensible to allow all of the above in a couple of weeks.All these outdoor activities are easily socially distancing ones and a lot lot lower risk than say going to the supermarket.

To be honest, not sure what is wrong with fishing now, if local. It is true that with all of these there could be an element of somebody needing to unlock and lock a facility which could be deemed non-essential work but some wouldn't require that.

Everything we get through the door we either wear gloves and move it to somewhere safe or just leave it. We do wash our hands. I saw an article a while back saying there was no proof that you have to leave your post for 24hrs even though I do.. Parcels we just leave somewhere if we can.

Just seen the BBC news report  showing the drive thru testing - the patients were doing it themselves! That must be leading to so many false negatives - you need to get right to the back of the nose to get a good sample, and it should be very unpleasant. I doubt if you do it yourself you would get to the very back and give it a good rummage
