Well, the GFS looks to be way off (thankfully, from my point of view). Instead of 29C and 15C dewpoint at 10, it's looking like it'll be 25C and 19C instead... presently 24.5 / 19 and rising slowly.

The Met Office has 22 / 17 at the same time, so that looks like being too cool.

GFS has an eventual max of 33 for here (despite the onshore breeze), while MetO has just 24C... it's already exceeded that.

Now up to 31C widely in Northern France including Calais and Le Touquet. Big day for the usually in-the-shadows North. The French equivalent of getting our daily max in Kinloss or Aviemore.

With respect to trying for the local record here (34.3*C of 3rd & 4th Aug 1990 to beat), temps are doing alright so far, despite a fair bit it thin cloud cover until about an hour ago.

Already into the 25s, which is not the highest I’ve seen at this time here, but today is different to most due to the N wind which should gradually veer to NE during the day and be enough to keep the sea breeze south of here.

That last bit’s hugely important, along with avoiding much cloud cover.

As troubling as high-end heat is for me, I figure that if it’s going to be exceptionally hot for this area, it might as well break the 30 year old record! So, here’s hoping.

And not stopping Northern France gearing ferociously this morning. 30C already in 8 places of which 2 are on the Cote D’Azur and the rest in the top corner of the country.

Still a lot of altocumulus here, the sort of mottled high cloud that lets the sunshine through the gaps every now and then.

Certainly not that hot here, with a northerly breeze, 23C feels very pleasant sitting in the garden.

The weather station (currently in the shade from a cloud) has just passed 28C - but I reckon it's overreading by a degree or two even so.

Standing in the living room, looking at the garden through the patio doors, you can feel the heat radiating in... it's quite an odd sensation.

Incidentally the weather station is reporting a dewpoint of 20C, doubtless due to the rain earlier. It certainly feels like it out there too...

By contrast it feels positively fresh here with a moderate breeze. Cloud is thickening all the time and the app forecast has cloud increasing through the afternoon. Only 24C and certainly doesn’t feel like a heatwave day, unlike yesterday.

Cloud amounts here are holding temperatures back to a paltry 26C.

Looks like its thickening here as well.

I suppose it was forecast. But still very irritating.

Infrared Satellite doesn't bode well either, the channel is full of cloud.

The app is forecasting a high of 33C here today but the feel of the day is nothing like that. It feels like a typical warm summer day that might top out at 27-28. But maybe I’ll be proved wrong.

I reckon most of today's "big" heat over the South East are likely to be transferred westwards towards Sussex and the western side of London as surface north east wind begin to pick up thus sparing East Anglia and East Kent (including hopefully my location) the peak temperatures on this occasion.  Might provide a crumb of comfort for Retron (and myself).
