snow 2004

Working in Carlisle which happens to also be extremely difficult to get proper snow. So sheltered that despite being under radar echoes all day there’s just a few flakes in the wind.

As for Glossop doesn’t sound like anything special there either yet. Tonight may bring something more significant there when the system pivots.

Trans pennine routes look to be blocked with drifting snow already.

Here in Edinburgh, we're just about on the northern edge of the main band of precipitation.

There is a mixture of wet snow and soft hail here which is being blown around in a howling Easterly wind.

It's nowhere near as cold as it has been tonight (although that raw wind from off the North Sea makes it feel a lot colder than it actually is) with a temperature of around +2°C here in Edinburgh as at 9pm GMT (21:00 UTC) this evening but the snow/hail is being blown around quite a lot and is even starting to settle a bit.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Rain set in yesterday 11:00am and quickly died off. Now back to snow again and a new couple of inches down. Lane’s covered. Parts NW of here with more elevation must have loads, our friends outside Kington at 270masl had 8” yesterday so presumably some parts of the Elan Valley etc. must’ve been fairly cut off.

Some interesting reports coming in on NW community forum. Very large drifts being reported over the peaks.  Hard to tell level snow. But 25ft drifts gives you an idea.

There has been a light dusting of snow here overnight on top of the existing cover (and cleared surfaces) from Monday night’s fall.

Lots of snow here too.
Average 21cm now on the natural surfaces such as grass and also the patio furniture but also varies because of wind. Still snowing lightly.

A wintry mix down here in Berkshire, 1.1c, but after 15+mm of rain yesterdy it'll going to be unlikely to settle.

It snowed for most of yesterday with some thawing in lighter showers, so we didn’t get any measurable depth.  Then it turned to light rain around teatime, and alternated between rain and snow until around 9 pm, when it snowed hard.  We now have a few centimetres this morning and it’s still snowing hard
with big fluffy flakes.

Sheffield seems to have been worse hit with over a foot in places.

Overall the amber warning was probably right. Motorists are stuck on M62 etc.

Another moderate snowfall this morning, everything with a fresh covering. Nice to see after yesterday's spoiler rain, a last hurrah.

Got up at 7am and all cover again with blizzards conditions earlier on now moderate Canadian style snowing.  All settled every where and drifting along fences and our north and east windows got snow on the corners.😀😀😀
