Wasn't expecting to see it, but a few flakes of snow in the moderate rain that's passing over right now: +3.2, dew +2.6C (down from 9C earlier this morning!)

Just easing here now. It snowed heavily for a couple of hours and left about 1cm at most, but it is quickly thawing. Very marginal conditions again.

the covering on grass/cars now pretty much gone. Glad I took the dog early so she could have a mad half hour in it. 🤣

Started again and falling steadily - but no significant settling yet.  9.10am.

GFS Models and BBC forecasts have actually been very good here over the last few days. Even predicted the rain turning back to snow in East Anglia as it moved out into the N.Sea. A short lived squall earlier gave almost blizzaed like conditions for a few minutes. Blew the lid of the dustbin and a branch came down. Sun out now, 2.4C.

We will have had somewhere between the predicted 30 to 40cm, hard to tell because of the moderate drifting which gave us drifts around 3ft deep. Lovely.

I think I'm going to have to move to a higher altitude part of the country (but then, that defeats the object dunnit? And I'd only move if I retired, which is probably when I'd start seeing snow as a nuisance)

Just drove from Bamber Bridge to Bristol and the most noticeable thing was the lack of snow almost everywhere. Some as you left Lancs, but the entire M5 journey was completely green as was most of the M6

After moaning about the first couple of inches of snowfall not settling on the paths and drive yesterday I have to say clearing the drive today was one of the most difficult snow clearances I have experienced due to the volume and drifting.  Thinking of the high ground Sheffield folk that had nearly double what we had.

Aboit 6cm and still snowing. Our biggest snowfall since 2014?

There was the classic Greater Manchester 'snow hole' in evidence yesterday and overnight. Of course it reinvigorates further west so yuo managed a respaectable enough 6cm. More snow on the way on Saturday? Whatever. Not interested as it won't happen, now which way to the moaning thread.....

My time-lapse for Thursday here. An expected major snowfall, only results in a few minor accumulations early and late.

Certainly the later PPN should have given us both a far better return.

The snow stayed on the grass/cars/some other surfaces, and when I took the dog it wasn't wet, it was decent and fairly dry.

Rather frustrating.

And I know, I grew up in north Leeds at a similar altitude to where I am now and it was considerably snowier, even factoring in climate change since then. There are regular reports from north Leeds on here with snow depths that I rarely acheive.

We do quite well for snow here really (though this winter has largely been poor until the past 24 hours). There aren’t many other places at my altitude in England I’d prefer living in from a snow perspective (probably parts of Durham and Northumberland).

Snow still on the ground where sun did not shine and around 3cm patches.  Been a amazing sight to see blizzards conditions early this morning with NE gales, that was a thing I used to see a lot in the 80;s.  Really hope next winter to deliver it in a correct season.  2 snow events here this month is great to remember.

Despite the strong March sunshine , we still have good snow cover and the landscape still looks very wintry. Of course some melt but it is so deep that it hasn't had a significant effect away from really exposed areas of pavement etc.

We have still most of the cover cover from Monday night’s fall (albeit less depth now). Impressive for March.
