so daytime programmed temps for Glasgow were way off. Listed widely as 1-2dc mac but was 7dc by 1pm

Not sure how Glasgow managed to get as mild as that because just at the other end of the M8 motorway here in Edinburgh, today's maximum temperatures only got up to 4.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 4.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
Even that wasn't cold enough for the odd shower which we had earlier on today, to fall as nothing other than plain old rain.
However, the temperatures are dropping away nicely under fairly clear skies with an official air frost already being recorded at all three of my local stations.
Meanwhile as at 11pm GMT (23:00 UTC) tonight, the temperature here in Edinburgh was already down to around -2°C (it is -3°C at Edinburgh Airport but was only down to around -1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh at that time).
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
