Well we just about managed it today 30.0c in Chertsey.  As you say a fairly average time to do it late June.

It’s looking like we might just hit the all time average and Windy Willow’s prediction is very close to the target.

Remarkable turnaround. Saturday will help for 2 of the stations at least. Current MetO forecasts suggest a final 3 day average of about 15.5°C which might nudge the final outcome up another point 1 but would at least protect the 14.
Outlook into July is unsettled currently- but to harp on once again about 1995, that didn't really get going until about day 7. Fingers crossed.

I don`t know why Hadley still use 1961-90 as the benchmark,it is completly out of kilter and no representation of the current climate.
Its a bit ridiculous seeing every month above average which therefore makes the period `61-90 below average.

Whether we are just above "average", or just below or bang on is a moot point as far as the competition goes. We all predicted higher so we already know how much we lost compared to Willow. This is the case whether the final CET is 14.3 or 7.3C
I do agree with Spring though that we should be using a more representative average now
