Great 'thoughts' Gavin as usual. Don't forget Scotland in your outlooks, I know you mention us now and then! Would you believe it, for once the heatwave has reached up here and we are regularly getting 25 C in Edinburgh with 28 C recently. Think we will turn a wee bit cooler and cloudier from Saturday though!

Keep up the excellent work!

Its approaching 25 C in Edinburgh yet again and once more we have glorious sunshine with the prospect of 27 C tomorrow! This is by far the best spell of summer weather since 2006 here.

June was sunnier and drier than normal here too with average temperatures so the general mood is great up here even without Andy's achievements!

The last few Augusts have been a washout for the Festival so fingers crossed this pattern lasts to Aug 31st!!

Maxed at 23.6c today. Back into the high 20s tomorrow 😁

This is an incredible spell of weather. What makes it even sweeter is there were a few praising their own wet summer forecasts a few weeks ago.. *Hungry.... Cough....* 😝 and here we are in what is pretty much the British Sahara Desert 🤣 and no end in sight. Amazing! 🤤

More superb weather today. Not as hot but a nice sunny evening compared to last night. Another night eating in the garden...this is what summer is for. What makes this sweeter...is off the back of the coldest spring and that March snowstorm. Proper seasonal contrasts like the US.

The coolest day for a week, at 24.0 °C -- but it sure didn't feel like it, what with the unbroken sunshine all day! So far, since the first really warm day (Saturday) I've recorded:

6/7: 26.5 °C

7/7: 28.1 °C

8/7: 26.5 °C

9/7: 27.5 °C

10/7: 25.6 °C

11/7: 24.0 °C

Going back up tomorrow, I suspect!

Wonderful spell of weather this is. The heat and sunshine we've had this week had reminded me more of the great summer of 1995 more than the summers of 2003 & 2006. Don't get me wrong; 03 and 06 were both pretty good overall but both of those summers had too much humidity for me. This week has seen temps here of around 25/26C on most days but with little humidity. Superb!

I agree, what an excellent spell of weather and the outlook is just as good!  This is the kind of summer I was dreaming of when I said I was prepared to forego any decent weather in the Spring if we actually had a summer to follow.  For me, Winter, Spring and now Summer are proper seasons, just as I'd expect them to be!  Perfect!

Another hot one in Scotland and local bbc tv mentions a possible 29 in Edinburgh and Borders tomorrow. Unusually its dusty and parched up here! We will be down to a shocking 21 by Saturday though 🙂

Temperatures forecast to be in the upper 20s around here today. The hot spot could well be Teeside IMO, where 30c could be reached. Some thunderstorms in the N. Pennines possible as well.

After having look at the latest visible satellite images, is it me or this area of high pressure is now starting to look a bit stale and dirty as pollution and some cloud are being dragged into it? Starting to look like it's the same air being recycled around, hence the rising heat and humidity and the hazy sunhine that we do get.
Need to get rid of this high pressure system and then start afresh with a nice, fresh and clean new one.

Cold dull morning again.. second morning running.

Despite the sun appearing after mid morning temperatures remained below average yesterday. Yesterday's forecasted highs of 23-24 for today have been dropped to highs of 20C - below average again.

GFS 00z op run for my location, day max then night min from Saturday 13th, followed by Met Office automated location forecast:

Sat: 31   15        29   18 (!)

Sun: 29   15       27    16

Mon: 30   17      27    16

Tue: 29   15       27    17

...which could lift my local mean to somewhere near 18.5°C

Just need the Met Office onboard for the daytime heat... at least for tomorrow as I haven't seen 30°C in many years now. The overnight minimums they predict are notably high especially for tomorrow night! Proper heatwave at last
