Two dodgy batting orders, the difference seems to be that for England someone will stick it out and make a big score. Australia have had a dodgy top 3/4 for a while but when Clarke was on top form, and Hussey was playing, then they tended to get Aus out of a hole.

We should really win this 5 - nil if weather allows they are as poor as they ever will be so we need to make the most of it. They used to when we were s***. Root looks like he's already world class amazing effort from him.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. The reality is that England didn't need 180 overs to bowl out Australia and therefore batting on this morning wasn't an issue in terms of controlling the outcome. That's all that matters, isn't it?

In Test cricket you don't leave the door ajar for the opposition, however remote the risk.

On to the 3rd Test. My guess is that England will go with the same 12. None of the batsmen will be dropped and talk of Root not being an Opener is off the table for the rest of the series at least. They will persevere with Peterson too.

I wonder what the Aussies will do with their batting? That's a more interesting issue - does Hughes survive or do they bring in Warner? I thought their bowling was just about OK.

Their bowling is acceptable, maybe a little more than that. It's hardly rapier class, but it's awkward. The batting lineup is the problem. They don't have one. 😂

I'd bring in a young guy named Maddinson. Liked the look of him in the under 19 World Cup and the tour matches he played here with Australia A.

Warner has been sent to Zimbabwe to tour with the A side and hasn't been getting runs down there either! He wasn't inform before the incident with Root and there is no saying he will find any form now, I still think they will throw him in the test side at some point.

Watson eitehr has to be dropped or moved down their order, he is in such bad form and has had so many lbw's against him your almost feel sorry for him!

I wonder if the Aussies are suffering the same fate as the West Indies did in the late 1990s? The West Indies had a great team from the mid 1970s to early 90s. Then their great players started to retire but the pool of talent was drying up to replace them.

The Aussies had that 15 years of dominance with great players retiring and being replaced by exceptional players. Now they have gone but where is the talent to replace them? The pool of talent seems to have dried up.

Watson is not an opener in my books at the Test level. They dug up a guy in his mid 30s ala Chris Rogers to be his opening partner. Are there no younger openers in Aussie cricket at the moment? They have been searching for a replacement to Warne which is haunting the selectors. The selectors are treating Nathan Lyon, the spinner with some contempt. They have resurrected Haddin as a wicketkeeper.

Watson has a massive technical flaw in his game. I'm reliably informed that he is having his name changed to Watson-LBW, so it matches any convicts batting card that he's on.

Glorious day sunday - weather superb, Froome wins the Tour, and the Aussies disintegrating before our eyes. Even the hope of dragging it into the last day dashed. For anyone who says we shouldn't gloat and should feel sorry for the Aussies I will simply say I was an England cricket fan from 1989 to 2005, unlike some of the band wagon jumper onners out there!

 I started watching test cricket in 1987 at the age of 10, I would be well in to my 20's by the time we won the ashes for the first time in my memory! Another 10 years or so of thrashing the Aussies will just about make up for it.

I started in the 70's I'm afraid and for me it is still the best form of cricket there is, I remember when Sunday was a day off and the test would finish on a Tuesday. Seen England get many a hammering so it is good to  see Australia  on the receiving end

Hooked since seeing the genius of Lara on the 1995 tour by the Windies and have been mainly disappointed by much of their performances since!

First match I ever sat and watched for more than 2mins was this one: http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/current/match/63612.html... Vividly remember thinking how anyone could bat as long as Border and Waugh. Think I was being initiated for the next decade of Aussie dominance.
