Yes it just spawned out of nothing 30 minutes ago.
We have thunder just to the SE now.

Approaching storm - one or two rumbles, flashes and bangs, all cloud to cloud.

So frustrating to see that line of storms driving up the M11 past Harlow and then turning off up the A11 into Norfolk.

Almost continuous but very distant rumbling and dark sky to my East this morning.

Here, a few drops of rain early on and that's been it.

Back here in Thorndon it looks like we've missed the worst of it

would i be right in saying these are convergence formed storms we are seeing forming.

Another point, looks like the Fohn effect is occuring in scotland. 25*c currently in north east scotland, warmer than the interior and western coast.

Had quite a severe storm in Lowestoft this morning (11.10 to 11.40 am) with lots of lightning and almost continuous rumbles of thunder. It was a typical medium level type (elevated) storm. (I would post a cloud photo if I knew how to do it).

It looks like you have been in the sweet spot in the last hour or two (although there is a bit of activity in the far SW too and parts of Ireland/W Scotland)

That storm would have hit here directly if it had remained as intense as it was near Sheffield. Oh well.

I think this must be some kind of record for the number of thundery events I've seen occuring across parts of the UK without anything of note here - jelousy at a maximum, especially after my grandparents in Dorking witnessed a fantastic, very electrically active thunderstorm this morning
