Well Clegg hangs on at least. The question is, how many fellow Limp Dumb MPs will he lead?

Not sure though this is a victory more a result.. Millions of people underrepresented, country split as never before, no party doing more than dominate one country of what is close to the former union.

Anyway, the Tories can govern, though five years is a long time with the kind of numbers they have unless they're consensual - this government will have a much smaller majority than the last.

And the LDs? Paid the price vote thinking their voters voted for them to put the Conservatives in power.

Ukip? Welcome to the realities of our electorial system.

Douglas Alexander losing to a 20 year old,  overturning a 10,000 majority beggars belief.

Anyway, will the tories be harried by their right like Major was after 1992? Probably.

It will also be govt of the UK by the Conservative part (I don't think they will win a majority of the vote) of England - not for the first time and what has caused the rift.

Impressive results and probably the biggest surprise of the last few decades.

I haven't seen the numbers yet, but I think a lot was down to the tactical voting patterns. Many UKIP voters in Con/Lab marginal seats probably switched to the Cons at the last minute, while Labour voters in Lib/Con seats didn't vote for the lib dems (to take revenge blah blah) and perhaps even at Con/UKIP marginals Labour voters didn't vote UKIP or event went Tory.

It just shows that people on the right are smarter and more disciplined and know how to play the system (look at Clegg keeping his seat due to tactical voting from Tory voters), while people on the left are a bit dumb & naive.

The Left in this country is now essentially split 3 ways (Lab, LDs and SNP), while the Right didn't split much at all after all. It just serves Labour right for not reforming the electoral system during their 13 years of dominating the government.

I also feel sorry for the Lib Dems as they didn't deserve it and they probably would have played a good role again in government, while now Cameron may now be hostage to the right of his party. In the next 5 years I bet Cameron will be looking back with nostalgia at the days of coalition with the lib dems.

Incredible result for the Tories. There is a big difference with 1992. They went into that election with a majority of about 100 and lost a lot of seats. This time the opposite has occurred. It is almost unprecedented. What's even more incredible is I know a number of people (like myself) who will be better off under the Tories but thought the campaign was so wretched they didn't support them.

BBC projecting 329 seats for the Tories. So in effect, an overall majority of 6.
