UK Outlook for Monday 9 Nov 2015 to Monday 23 Nov 2015:

Generally this period is likely to be unsettled with strong winds at times, showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed by brief, more settled, drier and brighter interludes. The bulk of the unsettled weather is most likely across the north and west of the country, with a risk of gales or severe gales. The south and east is most likely to see the best of any drier and brighter weather. For mid to late November, however, there is a chance that we may see a colder, more settled spell for most areas. Temperatures look likely to be around or slightly above the seasonal average, with milder spells interspersed by rather cold conditions in the more settled periods.

Confusion!  May see a colder and more settled spell, but temperatures slightly above seasonal average, with milder spells with colder conditions?

Typical zonal weather for the UK - get used to it! Warm sector bringing milder conditions followed by cold sector with a ridge of high pressure and an overnight frost and back to the next warm sector, Inferentially, the MetO expect the warm sectors to be more extreme and/or of longer duration than the cold sectors. 

I remember an Austrian language assistant saying to me that she didn't understand the British weather, under just these conditions; 'Here when the sun is shining it is cold, but when it is cloudy it turns warm, not like at home!'

Looking like another poor ski season for the Rockies again:

Friends of mine when skiing in Whistler , BC last December and it snowed once in 2 weeks - but even that never lasted at resort.

Looks like this pattern is bang on and will continue throughout the winter. - This monthly update ties in well with the LRF's even watching Gav's videos  - I.E the trend for a colder and wetter southern USA and SE and a milder than average Northern USA/ Canada.

Could someone let me know where the N. American thread is? I use to enjoy reading reports from Stewart.

Is it fair to call this an Indian summer?

Just looking at 'major' European cities as well - all above normal by at least 2c.

Paris 15c
Berlin 12c
Bern 14c
Prague 12c

More or less most of Europe in double figure temps and will continue.
