We always seem to have within us the capacity to come up with an embarrassing performance & defeat

Back to square one.

Good to see Rooney's form in the CLQs was a flash in the pan. Back to the same old BarnDoorBanjo stuff today.

NUMBERS CRUNCHING

Money spent by Van Gaal on players = £230m (or thereabouts)

Or to put it another way

£100m more than Swansea Football Club has spent on players in its entire history.

30 August 2015 19:28:34
They were dreadful again. Moyes and LVG have sucked the life out of the club. The playing style/system is so laboured, it's so boring to watch. Glad Swansea beat them, as they actually gambled and showed some positivity in their play. Man Utd need a world class striker to support/replace Rooney at the very least.

Man U require that top class striker....Rooney is not a number 9. This morning's rumours have Man U linked with a 50 million euro bid for Anthony Martial a 19 year old Monaco striker. I have never heard of the guy !

Spurs have bid £25m for Axel Witsel. He'd be a good signing if they could pull it off.

Chances of it happening? Precisely zero, because of having to deal with Zenit.

One for the future I guess. His scoring record isn't too impressive yet, but no doubting he's an exciting prospect.

This is how football works:

1- Player plays up

2- Club extend contract (knowing he'll leave if they get the right price) to bid up player's value.

3- Daft club and manager come in with daft bid.

Speculation that Arsenal are splashing out £67 million for Gonzalo Higuain.  Not a chance in my view.

From one of the Tottenham boards.

In a nutshell springs to mind.

"Well, it looks like Man Utd's shambles of a transfer window is helping the Monaco coffers. We bid, he signs a new contract; Man Utd have to pay double, they accept. Least we are 2nd in the list of panic buying at the end of the transfer window this time.....that is if we do buy before the deadline."

Just had a look at some numbers:

Pedro (19M £/26M €) and Mandžukic (13,8M £/ 19M €) is less than Martial.

I cannot seriously believe United are paying £36m. But who knows?

So, Zenit slap a £73m fee on Witsel.

Levy comes in with a £13.8m bid.

What an utter cockwomble.

EDIT. Now The Mirror have decided we haven't bid at all.

Marca reporting De Gea has agreed the transfer to Real Madrid, with Kaylor Navas moving the other way.

I can believe the first part, but not so sure about Navas going to Man Utd. Stranger things have happened though

Is that right they ballsed the paperwork up and the deal is off? Is it also right that he out of contract at the end of the year meaning he will now walk on a free???  Surely none of this is true?????

Man U are really panic buying LVG spending 35,000,000 on a 19 year old.......come off it . His spending will go past the 250,000,000 mark, that is crazy .
