you cant paste screenshots.  unless you post it on an image hosting site - such as Imgur.  Other copy and paste elements ie from a GFS picture which is already hosted by a webpage else where will copy and paste.

So if you are trying to copy and paste the ensmbles - then right click and copy image - or copy the link.  Then paste that into a reply - note: do not use quick reply as the paste funcationality doesnt work there. you have to click at the top or bottom of the forum page on post a reply to allow that to work.  If you see the Smileys on the left - then you can paste.

LOL!  Some of us have gone all winter without an airfrost.  Or even a day with below average maximas.  Now it's looking cold and frosty from early next week for at least 10 days - with a risk of snow just about anywhere.  The best winter charts in years.   And some are bemoaning the fact it might turn a bit milder again in 2 week's time and the rest the fact that it might not be be incredibly exceptionally cold.

Well, I guess if we don't see -15c in London by Wednesday then winter is over .....

Good to see things back on track after last nights 18z.
Before that however there are a number of important features that have to play ball. Just one of these not behaving could still scupper things, but hopefully they will behave as modelled.
If the cold spell does play out, although there is uncertainty with features, I see these features as a good thing as will provide the instability in the atmosphere we need.
While there are areas that do need a welcome long spell of high pressure, I'd prefer the unstableness in the atmosphere, rather than a big cold area of high pressure that offers little in the way of snow.
In all, very interesting watching how this pans out with threats of localised areas of low pressure for some.
The uncertainty and instability with all the features around could make this a fascinating spell of weather watching.

For those interested only limited upgrade on updated Meto forecast today. Can't post a link as at time of typing it has only updated on Met App but it basically indicates that initial push of cold from Wednesday may be hard to shift while the 16-30 day remains unchanged from yesterday.

I happen to use other sites for other models purely out of habit.  Not out of preference.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 12 Jan 2016 to Thursday 21 Jan 2016:
Tuesday will be largely unsettled and often windy with showery conditions interspersed with some more organised spells of rain, and snow across northern parts, mainly high ground. The heaviest rain and strongest winds probably occurring in the southwest and northeast. From Wednesday a colder spell is expected to develop with widespread overnight frosts. There is likely to be a mixture of sunshine and showers, with the showers falling as sleet or snow to low levels in the north, and perhaps also in the south. As we go through the period unsettled and sometimes windy weather with mainly westerly winds will probably become re-established across much of the UK, although the colder conditions may be hard to shift.

From December 27th 2020, zonality will be banned from mixing with the UK. We appreciate that this may come as a shock to younger people and old Uncle Barty. This ban will last for a minimum of ten days.
