Well I'm disappointed. I was expecting a temperature of at least 30C here when I got home but the car thermometer (which seems quite accurate) is showing only 28.5C.

Is it supposed to be as hot tomorrow?

A direct ESE'ly breeze straight off continental Europe allowed for the once or twice a year 'hairdryer effect' today, whereby the 22 mile sea track causes no modification to the airmass.

Maxed here at 29.2c. Sadly not 30c and equalling my previous record set on 6th August 2009.

Currently 26.4c...its going to be a warm evening and night.

Reached 30.6c in my garden (30.3c at Pershore College) - unusually, max was a couple of hours after the sun had moved off my garden.  I suspect I'd have hit 32c had the cloud broken earlier.

My son's car is showing 33c and my unshielded sensors are showing exactly 35c but they recorded 35.8c on Friday 19th, so it's not quite the hottest in my sheltered back garden.  It's doing well though considering the sun is hazy and didn't appear until lunch time.  I don't know what the official figure is for here but it will be lower than my readings.

Brog dale (official holder of the UK record) will be of interest today as I believe Canterbury was approaching 32 c then I imagine Brogdale could push 33 if not higher.

A more sensible 24.4 C here on the South East Kent coast with a nice SW onshore breeze. I think I can live with that. Approve

24.4c for a 3pm reading today sounds way too low given the characteristics of the ESE'ly airmass today. I could understand if it was somewhere like Lydd with a much longer sea track today...but it doesnt sound correct for Folkestone. Even Langdon at 120 m asl was knocking in 28c at 3pm ?

Its a curious reading because WI is on the coast in Dover and managed 29.9c.

I hope Ian's often unduly pessimistic view of Folkestone isnt going to start getting mis-represented by unfairly low temperature readings. It's been rumoured that the tourism trade is starting to suffer because of it !

Interesting temp readings on the way home from Dorset this afternoon. 24c when we left Studland at 4.30 and the cloud was just starting to arrive. Then it dipped a lot as we went west, down to 20c around Corfe Castle, then rapidly climbed as we headed inland, up to 27c towards Ringwood after passing through a few spots of rain. Then 28-29c up the M3 towards Winchester maxing out at 30.5C at 6.20pm just before we turned off at Fleet. Really felt the extra heat up here in inland Hants when getting out of the car!

Edit: looks like 33.5c was the max, tied between Northolt and LHR. Unless any of the minor stations did better.

31.7c at Farnborough, easily warmest this year and probably warmest since 2006?
