Light Snow at Stansted. Temperature one degree. Dew point zero.
Ground is to damp at the moment for it to settle.

Staring snowing on and off from around 11:30am  with the odd heavier burst in-between  the light stuff, no further accumulations here but I expect higher ground around the region will be getting plastered.

A couple of light sleety rain showers here this morning. Otherwise dry, overcast and very dull

persistent sleet for a while now. Irony is, I've seen more sleet and snow from a southerly in the last 2 years than i have from the north or east! If the temp had been a degree lower we'd have had a fair covering.

Amazing what 4 miles can do, I'm only down the road. No higher up than the city centre, but maybe less of a UHI effect?

Elevation has made all the difference again.

Woke up this morning to a patchy thin cover of snow which has now all thawed.  Mainly drizzle at times today here, just a bit of sleet briefly earlier.   Disappointing event here to say the least!

Coming down a bit heavier, and settling, even on busy, slushy roads. Things may be a bit chaotic come rush hour.

4 inches or so in Dronfield and a little more at work in Grenoside, Sheffield. Almost nothing in city centre just wet. Made for a fun commute today! Eased off to light sleet after a brief heavier period of snow earlier.

Just had a drive towards Oldham town centre and there is close to 10cm on the ground at around 200m asl, here lower down absolutely nothing at 93m, this time the proper thick snow line seems to be from 160m+, Saturday night it was around 130m+

That's why I'm not a fan of this cold zonality. It takes a proper cold zonal NW flow like Christmas day 2004 or December 2009 to give a decent lasting cover to places like here lower down in the town, but those set ups seem to be getting rarer. I hope we get an easterly at some point this Winter. That more often than not delivers for here. Overall the last few days have reminded me of the late 90's/00's when marginal events occurred in the Oldham area.

Estimate that we now have a level 14 inches.  Literally have to wade through the garden to get to the chicken coup. Snow went well over top of wifes wellies on the way to it...  Can only get within about a quarter of a mile from the house with the car that hasn't got snow tires on as back roads within our locality are impassable to normal traffic.  However our other car with snow tyres on  seems virtually unstoppable!

Interesting period of weather -  only a couple of inches fell last night but a further 6 inches fell through today, adding to the 6 inches already on the ground from the weekend snowfall. The precip just seems to constantly form to our south and constantly roll over us, a bit like a standing wave in a river.  Repeated moderate sometimes heavy bursts of snow all day with brief intervals of cessation - & its still snowing as I write.

Good job its not windy or else I think that our house would be buried with snow drifting off the fields......

In the end, around 3 inches. A decent fall, though nothing to write home about.

Not much in the city centre though - UHI at play.

Think thats it for us now. 10cm fresh snow, 13cm total on grass where snow remained from previous days. Could do with the temperature falling now as 0.2c and slight drip from some trees. All in all a great day!

Seems like elevation was the key today.
Absolutely nothing on the ground here in the aire valley at 130m asl, but reports of 8" a few miles away at 300m asl.

What sort of depths are there on the Peak District between Leek and Buxton? May take a ride up there in the next few days.
