I am booked on a Ryanair flight to Spain on Saturday. Obviously, I am not going however, Ryanair are not cancelling the flights, which means that I cannot get a refund.  It is impossible to go on the site and get a refund for anything. There are problems with the site accepting booking references of people whose flights have been cancelled. It keeps telling them that their ref is wrong. Funnily enough, if you want to change dates, it does work! Once flights ARE changed, it then charges you twice for luggage, and the new dates prices are far and away much more than if you were making a direct booking. I am assuming here that Ryanair are avoiding cancelling flights so they can avoid refunding people.  They are unable to get through on app/website/web chat/email/DM/ or phone so are appearing as a no show, therefore no refund.

A big thumbs up to BA; we had booked flights and hotels to the Caribbean on 28th March. Within 24 hours of one of our destinations barring UK residents from entry, we had an email from BA saying the holiday was off and we'd be receiving a full refund. We didn't have to ask for it or anything.

Discussed this with Brian yesterday - he is leaving packages unopened and untouched for 24 hours.

Is there a better idea?

The real problem comes with foodstuffs, like the milk we get delivered and the online shopping many people use - you cannot leave food unopened.

Total number of deaths in Italy (sadly still rising at a steady rate) compared with the mortality rate (%) of total confirmed cases. Data is up to 8am this morning.

If there is one encouraging thing to take from this, is that the mortality rate has 'steadied' somewhat.

Again we should remember that the UK is actually well ahead of the rest of Europe in this regard. It's also the reason we are behind other countries in terms of the epidemic trajectory.

Our testing continues to ramp up and is still easily the best in Europe with the possible exception of Italy.

Obviously it doesn't come close to SK.

I stopped praising the UK when we moved from 'containment' to 'delay'. Regardless of how the UK is performing during this phase, it's performance during containment was excellent. Perhaps the mistake was moving to delay too early.

Check to see if the wipe contains ethanol. If it's 60%+ ethanol it is extremely effective against COVID.

Yeah, they expect stabilisation this week and then the daily number of deaths to start dropping next week. Let's hope they are right, because there is not much else they can do.

In lieu of that though, kill it with heat and time.

The more heat, the less time you need.

Even low heat in cooking terms will render everything completely safe.

Most anti bacterial wipes don’t contain alcohol. We use neat isopropyl alcohol in a spray

Wrt foodstuffs we are separating in the fridge. For example, meat from is going into a part of the fridge and will not be touched for 24 hours min. Quantum or others may say the method is not particularly effective but I can't think of anything better.

My wife have birth on Sunday morning and we are now back home. I was trying not to look much at the news if I'm honest. Speaking to the staff in the maternity hospital it didn't strike me that they had been given much forewarning of what is to come. Really glad she gave birth then rather than in a month or so. Next dilemma, my nearly 82 year old father lives alone. Generally good health though but when can he see his grandson...
