After a mostly fine but cool start to July with 9mm of rain in 8 days from a few passing showers, things are changing.
A fresh NE wind is springing up and England's rain has just arrived. I feel we are going to see rain up to the end of Thursday with potentially some high totals and cold winds.......great! 😫

Dull and damp with 4.2 mm of rain so far all making the current 18.3 C & low 90% H feel swampy-like in calm winds.

Drizzly rain has now become more extensive here in Edinburgh and the system which is bringing that has now become very slow moving.

The temperature did briefly get up to around 16°C in some earlier bright and sunny intervals but the temperatures are once again refusing to rise as has been the case for most of this ongoing complete non-event which is this so-called "summer".🤢

As I write, the temperature has dropped back to just below 15°C here in Edinburgh which once again, isn't even the least bit warm for this time of year.😡

But a dew point if 18C is making it very sticky especially indoors.

A perfect example today of how a cool temperature (relative to normal) can still feel stifling.
Mostly cloudy, with brief sunny spells, and a light southerly breeze.
20.8, dew 18.0, and of course that humid air is slowly working its way inside... it's unpleasant outside, and not good for working (I was sawing off some branches from a couple of my trees earlier, and it's sweaty work).

13 C is the lowest in Europe just now including northern and western Russia (source weatheronline). I think theres a 13 C on the coast in NW Norway, in other words Edinburgh, once again is the coldest city in Europe. I've seen this time and time again in high summer!

Today has ended up being a complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh with the rain having become heavier over time after not really amounting to anything at all in the earlier part of this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank is officially confirmed as 16.6°C but that was recorded quite early on this morning when our weather was a lot brighter.

In today's video on YouTube, Mark Vogan hinted that the weather here in the Central Belt might brighten up during this evening, but that hasn't even come close to happening here in Edinburgh at least.

Instead of that, it's still quite dark to such an extent that I've had to put my house lights on a lot earlier than normal for this time of the year with light drizzly rain still continuing to fall.

So far though, we've had a total of just 5.8 mm of rain from this event at Edinburgh Gogarbank but the temperature here in Edinburgh is now down to around 11°C.

Suddenly gone weirdly warm with torrential downpours and thunder after modest 12mm through the day now closing in on 20mm and plenty more to come by the looks of it.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh was still Europe and western Russia's coldest city at 2030. It was 11 C here and quite dark with sheets of heavy drizzle blowing in from the NE
Some Norwegian mountain resorts are 9 or 10 C. It's around midnight in western Russia but still hot there

As I write, the rain has got heavier yet again, thus summing up what has been a thoroughly wet and miserable afternoon and evening here in Edinburgh ☔️🌧️with the temperature currently at around 11°C.

Another sultry and sticky night. It's currently mostly cloudy and calm.
15.8, dew 15.0, with a low of 15.5 (same as last night). Yesterday's high was 21.5, so just a smidge below average.

A dull, damp and dreary start to this morning here in Edinburgh.

Yesterday's rain has cleared away to our north, but only to be replaced by more rain which is slowly edging up from the south and as I write, it has now just started raining here once again.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 11.1°C and the current temperature as I write is around 12°C here in Edinburgh.

It's actually quite fresh and breezy on account of a mod SW wind at this end, also some bright spells which are all helping to shift the latest dampness. 17.4 C & 90% H but feels less muggy than yesterday.
