There was a flurry of comment  recently about a toilet designed to be uncomfortable e.g. for long sittings playing on your "tablet".

This made me wonder whether my existing concerns about the hygiene of tablets may worse than I had imagined.

I have never considered smartphones and tablets to be serious potential fomites, but in an epidemic involving droplet infection of course they could be. Cough on the screen, pass screen to other player.... Oooer - who has been using this mouse? My wife and I have are sharing a horrible cold this week.....

p.s. There is well established saying: "Science teachers wash their hands before going to the toilet." I suspect there is also the general belief that although washing hands is a good idea, touching that tap handle isn't! Otherwise known as "My willy is cleaner than that!" R.

I remember from some years ago a story from California. It was suffering from particularly heavy rain and flooding due to a strong El Niño. Some people decided that it was the fault of someone with the surname Nino, who was bombarded with threats and angry messages.  So if you think the Coronavirus confusion is a sign of stupidity just contemplate this example.

At least in the Middle Ages people just wrapped up their superstitions and fears with their religion and attributed everything to God.

Speaking as a Biologist, I'd be intrigued if we discovered screen swiping to be a significant element in the transmission of the corona virus. A curiously ironical Darwinian thought.

In the 50s polio outbreak it was "Wash, rinse, dip..."
