Big jump in new cases in Iran - 1,234 additional cases.

Wouldn't be anything to do with the WHO being there this week, with  100,000 testing kits would it?

The weather aspect is interesting and it isn't just about the UV radiation or the temperature, people tend to be much more outdoors when the weather is warmer and there is less proximity to each other. Despite what the modelling says, I wonder if after an initial surge of cases here in the next few weeks, we get it under control by May/JUne, before there is a second peak next winter.

I've got 3 women/girls living with me. We need a plentiful supply of paracetamol in my house.

I have been sent this link by my Danish colleagues:

https://www.sst.dk/da/viden/smitsomme-sygdomme/smitsomme-sygdomme-a-aa/coronavirus/spoergsmaal-og-svar

The standout figures are for the numbers tested and positive:

Danmark649230

So, out of a population of 6 million, where there is much travel to other European countries, they have only tested 649 people?

That suggests to me that some countries like Denmark have a large reservoir of infection hidden beneath the surface.

P.S. - UK has tested far more than most, given the level of positives:

Some interesting theories about the effects of weather - where else but on a weather forum?

Another random thought.  If Covid 19 was transferred to humans from an animal, is it possible we could pass it on to other animals?  Is it possible we could further spread it via our domesticated animals?  I doubt that’s something we can answer yet as we don’t know enough about it.  Our cat seems to have a sore throat!

There is that pom which has tested "weakly positive", but that's still awaiting formal blood tests.

Might explain the numbers we are seeing around the world.

For damp surfaces it is more like 40C!

That would also explain why handwashing in 'hot' water is suggested and very effective.   (mine is above the legal limit  now at 65C! and it feels boiling hot).

The only place I would want to be if I fell sick with a virus is at home. I've had flu once in my life and lots of water and bed rest were the only things which helped.

Why anybody would go to hospital if they felt 'fluey' is beyond me.

Another cruise ship in difficulties - I find it difficult comprehend why people are still going on these potential virus prisons:

"Thailand has denied entry to passengers and crew of a cruise ship that arrived at the popular Andaman Sea resort island of Phuket.

Phuket Immigration Police Chief Col. Narong Chanaphaikul said his office would not allow the 2,000 or so people on board the Costa Fortuna to disembark because some passengers are from Italy.

Thai authorities can prohibit the entry of anyone traveling from a designated dangerous disease area or require them to undergo physical exams or be quarantined.

As I said to my family at the time, it's the most expensive cruise ship in the world.

I told them it's because it costa fortuna  (and I even delivered it in my special Italian accent as a treat)

Twas at that point the girls decided they had places to see, and my missus gave me a look somewhere between pity and hate.

"A second person in the UK is believed to have died from coronavirus, according to reports. The man was understood to be in his late 80s, had underlying health conditions and died at Milton Keynes Hospital, the Milton Keynes Citizen reported.

Doctors are awaiting official test results to confirm if it was a case of COVID-19."

Little Matty Handjob caught out telling lies:

On Thursday, Mr Hancock told Question Time: "Crucially, we are working with the supermarkets to make sure that, if people are self-isolating, then we will be able to get the food and supplies that they need."

But one executive told the BBC: "Matt Hancock has totally made up what he said about working with supermarkets. We haven't heard anything from government directly."
