My concern with the Government’s Herd immunity plan - do we even have confirmation that those recovered from the virus have immunity?

Unless we have that, we could be in for a world of trouble.

Perhaps, it's not certain. If I'm symptomless, though, then there'll be hell to pay if I do stay at home, government advice or no...

I'm pretty sure I caught whatever the head had last week and she certainly didn't hold back on spewing out the germs! She seemed fine yesterday, for what it's worth. (She even said, as she coughed all over the place, that it was a "chest infection". Great.)

At least this afternoon I feel a bit better - still tired, still the odd cough (but very infrequent); the main thing is a slight feeling of congestion in the chest. I don't have a thermometer so can't check for a fever, but I don't look any different from normal colour wise. Although I had the hot/cold thing during the night, I've not had it since I got up.

All in all, not Covid-19 as far as all the stuff online goes.

Well, going to their online version (you're not meant to call 111 now unless you have severe symptoms) asks:

• Do you feel hot on your back/chest (I feel warm, but as I don't regularly feel my chest and back I wouldn't know if it was warmer than normal)


• Do you have a regular cough (no)

Nothing about any other symptoms.

Saying "no" to both gives:

You don’t need to speak to anybody right now as you:
don’t have a cough
don’t have a high temperature
It’s unlikely that you are experiencing symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Out of interest if you say you have a high temperature you get told to stay at home for a week.

Get one from ebay or amazon, they should be about a fiver. You'd probably know though if you had a fever.

I woke up with night sweats the other night. Felt like a fever. 

I took my temperature and it was normal.

Anxiety and stress can make you feel like you have a fever even though you haven’t.  I would absolutely make the effort to buy a thermometer to settle nerves.

The stress and anxiety is crippling. Seeing my kids talk about football, wanting to be a vet, wanting a new bookshelf... is very hard right now. Their entire future is not going to be what they think it will, and over the coming months they may well lose grandparents and maybe even me.

On thermometers.. our trusty ear one was playing up a bit. I bought a new one a couple of weeks ago. Very glad I did. I've assigned a separate cap for each family member (no way to use a new one each time).

Thanks, it's what I thought. It sounds logical, but also so risky. How can they be confident that they will get that fine balance right and that people will react as the authorities are asking them to? We have no precedent of this and 'high skill' modelling and nudge theory can be way off.

I also agree with him that HMG should explain this strategy more clearly.

Only if you have a persistent cough or a fever. That's literally all 111 asks.

Flying causes me a huge amount of stress and anxiety. Nothing to do with the physics of flight but the idea of being locked in a confined space. Recently I plucked up the courage to see a GP about it. She prescribed me beta blockers (wouldn't dish out tranquillisers for safety reasons on planes) to be taken as and when necessary. On my recent flights I found they made a huge difference.
