I personally think this lack of social interaction will kill my dad especially quicker than Covid-19.

I hate this.

I would imagine that is because they are only testing the more serious cases now?

26th February - Italy had broke the 400 case barrier.  We broke it around Wednesday 11th, so we are around 2 weeks behind, at best.

This is an appalling scenario and it is now.

I tend not to worry but this is stressing me.

I tried to do my normal weekly shop today, but also wanted to stock up on essentials.

The shelves were stripped bare in Sainsbury’s. Fresh produce and staples. People were walking around in a daze. I couldn’t focus as so much was missing.

There is a such a strange atmosphere at the moment.

I popped to my grans today. I kept two meters distance at all times and was constantly washing my hands. It was heartbreaking as couldn’t even give her a cuddle. I just felt I needed to see her and make sure she had everything she needed.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I know what it is like around here at the moment. She want want to try joining one of the WhatsApp groups - there is probably one for her street. Someone on it may be prepared to give some paracetamol to her.

Anyhow, for a bit of light relief, read Rod Liddle in the ST today and here is another insightful piece:

I'm sorry to hear that, too, Saint!

I'm no longer able to see my Mum at a nursing home, following a massive stroke last year. I'm very glad they're protecting the vulnerable, something I'm accepting, but it looks like I won't be able to see her anymore.

I hope your mum is ok, and all too soon you're able to see and hug her. Same goes for everyone else in such a position.

Others have mentioned about setting up online shopping for elderly relatives and friends, the other thing I've done is get my elderly rellies set up with Skype or FB video messenger. Might make the bit of a difference to not feeling that isolation in the long term.

Also I think a push for broadband providers to cut BB rental over the next few months is called for.
