Listening to the news tonight, it sounds like more supermarkets are rationing the per item amounts.  But there are always those who will fill their car boot and go back round!

No point getting stressed about it Que Sera Sera.

Some of us saw it coming a couple of months ago - I give you Quantum.

Anyhow, for a bit of light relief, read Rod Liddle in the ST today and here is another insightful piece:

Had they done so, while they probably wouldn't have been able to keep coronavirus away from the UK completely, they may have been able to lessen the effect of it on this country at least a bit. For one thing, we might have avoided the wholly unfortunate situation we now have of so many people panic buying and almost emptying shop shelves.

I also can't help feeling increasingly angry at the backwards freaks who, by scoffing wild animals, have caused this. Those gobshites would eat a turd if it grew legs and some pillock 6 centuries ago said it cured headaches and a floppy dick.

I don't see the point in panic buying. All the countries with severe restrictions still allow food shopping and seeing as you would have no idea if or when you might be infected all your supplies could run out before then.

One thing that I have not seen proposed yet,on here or elsewhere is that the govt suspend the sunday trading laws ans allow the big supermarkets to stay open 24/7 if they wish along with 24//7 deliveries.I also think its time to bring in strict rationing on ALL items that people can buy to ensure there is enough for everyone especially for those getting stuff for the over 70`s. This panic buying/hoarding has to be forecibly stopped.

So far, this is working well - and this from a community where, to date, there are no reported cases. The practice should definitely be introduced more widely.

France and Spain had no chance without closing land borders, but all we had to do in the UK was to put out storng FCO advice against visiting places which had demonstrable epidemics.

School children have mild symptoms if any, but closing schools would be incredibly disruptive. Likewise, I see no point in closing pubs or restaurants, provided strict hygiene measures are in force and any staff with symptoms self isolate.

I think so far we have seen a failure of leadership by HMG and European governments. Time will tell whether the strict measures employed by several European countries or the more cautious approach of HMG will work out best.

The Asian countries had provided clear models of how our countries should have reacted. Nothing academic, theoretical or modelling, proper action in real time.
