In Greece if the police stops you and you say you go shopping, you must be carrying at least one shopping bag with you and then return to the same spot and show that you went shopping indeed.

No idea how strictly this is enforced though.

Trump talking about reopening the economy soon. Much sooner than the 3 or 4 months some people have been talking about.

My car is scheduled for its MOT tomorrow. The garage is collecting and returning it. I'll be leaving the keys in the porch and then not using the car for several days after it is returned unless there is an emergency.

I wiped the key pretty thoroughly with a Dettol wipe and then gave it a once over with normal soap before drying it.... and I'm still worried because 4 hours later I took the key with a gloved hand and then adjusted my mask over the bridge of my nose with the same gloved hand.

Someone please tell me I'm being paranoid!

I would have thought the risk from doing that is infinitesimally small given the other precautions you have taken.

A new paper from UCL estimates that the HMG policy up to tonight (partial suppression policy with population-wide social distancing, combined with home isolation of cases, as well as school and university closures) would have led to up to 70,000 excess deaths in the UK.

It estimates that ~20% of the UK population has at least one underlying condition associated with Covid and it asks for stricter measures.

I think the economic fallout will be significant and for many people bigger than the impact from the virus. However the govt seems determined to help people and businesses and I think and hope they will take more measures.

One of the amusing things about the White House briefings is the team all huddle round one microphone. It is quite ludicrous given the context.

So, does that rule out the likes of butchers and bakers that sell food? Most people around here rely on such shops for their ‘essentials’.

Even once the worst effects of this virus on human health have gone, whenever that is, I fear that the economic damage could take many, many years to repair, if full repair is even going to be possible.

Hope you stay safe and well!

Thanks David, who knows really.

Infection wise for the lock downs to work they need to reduce significantly the number of infections and then we need to know, isolate and contract trace every  single infection. The UK is far from this, so I imagine the lock down will last for many weeks.
