Just had a call from a nice sounding lady at an estate agent. The conversation went like this..

EA - "Jut wanted to reassure you we expect everything to return to normal in 3 weeks"

BG - "I think that's VERY unlikely"

EA - "Well to be truthful we think the slowdown may last 6 weeks"

A friend of mine has confirmed one his friends died of the virus. He was diagnosed with the virus on Sunday and died this morning at 1am.

How awfully tragic, he was in his late 30s and did have underlying conditions.

It’s sad to think that in a few weeks we might all know someone who has passed directly or in directly.

Interesting differences between Turkey and Greece. Not sure if its down to tesing, measures taken, population density,  or whatever

1st confirmed case for Turkey wasn't until 11th March, they are now 2433 confirmed cases and 59 deaths

Greece's 1st confirmed was 26th February, they are now 821 cases and 22 deaths.

Then just 3 days after the deaths in Italy started rising quickly, they announced an immediate lockdown and their PM was brutally honest. He basically said that no matter what they do, their health system is not adequate and cannot cope with an Italian style crisis (their healthcare system is decimated after 10 years of crisis and severely understaffed with lots of Greek doctors working for the NHS here). He also explained that Greece is very similar to Italy (aged population, living in flats etc.), so they had to shutdown the economy in order to avoid a catastrophe.

Even though more than 100 schools from Greece were in N.Italy in february, so far Greece has avoided the exponential growth and they only have ~25 deaths.

So you trust China and Iran? You and I don't see eye to eye, but then we never did.

With China, I just don't know. They surely have the ability to properly collate figures. Are they lying? You may well be correct but AFAIK, the WHO hasn't been critical of their figures.

And so the Tsunami begins:

London hospitals facing 'tsunami' of coronavirus cases

It’s seems the explosion of positive cases over the last few days is starting cause critical issues. MM confirmed as much yesterday after his discussion with his family member

I've been asked on FB if I'm doing the NHS Clap later.

It might be just me but reading NHS and clap in the same sentence makes me a little nervous :)

Question.

The PM confirmed the lockdown would last three weeks. What is everyone’s thoughts. Do people think we could have this lifted then, or do people think we may have this extended?

The more seriously and quickly some take it the quicker we can return to something more normal.

You can see periods of lockdown and opening up. I suppose that will cause this flatter curve rather than the spike and give the NHS the chance to treat more people.
