I certainly won't be rushing to wear one especially when you consider that they need to be changed regularly. need to be taken off with care and just add to the mountains of stuff that needs to be disposed of every day as it is.

Could we perhaps hang them in the cupboard on coat hangers  and re-use them after a safe interval of time ?

Seriously, though,  the best of luck buying any at the moment - not a hope in Hades

  That’s how we’ll be playing it too.  If things settle down we’ll get a last minute booking but I’m not holding my breath.

Hubby was watching the news this morning and he said cruises seem to be in demand at a premium price.  I find it strange that people are booking now, when we don’t know what tomorrow will bring and I wouldn’t book anything that far in advance in case the company went bust.

On the matter of face masks rather than me giving my opinion on it (as my opinion is basically what the WHO states as they have far more experience and expertise on this than myself and everyone here), here is the WHO recommendations, published last Monday. The emphasis is theirs not mine:

Medical masks should be reserved for health care workers.
The use of medical masks in the community may create a false sense of security, with neglect of other essential measures, such as hand hygiene practices and physical distancing, and may lead to touching the face under the masks and under the eyes, result in unnecessary costs, and take masks away from those in health care who need them most, especially when masks are in short supply.

Persons with symptoms should:
• wear a medical mask, self-isolate, and seek medical
advice as soon as they start to feel unwell. Symptoms can include fever, fatigue, cough, sore throat, and difficulty breathing. It is important to note that early symptoms for some people infected with COVID-19 may be very mild;
• follow instructions on how to put on, take off, and dispose of medical masks;
• follow all additional preventive measures, in particular, hand hygiene and maintaining physical distance from other persons.

All persons should:
• avoid groups of people and enclosed, crowded spaces;
• maintain physical distance of at least 1 m from other
persons, in particular from those with respiratory
symptoms (e.g., coughing, sneezing);
• perform hand hygiene frequently, using an alcohol-based
hand rub if hands are not visibly dirty or soap and water
when hands are visibly dirty;
• cover their nose and mouth with a bent elbow or paper
tissue when coughing or sneezing, dispose of the tissue
immediately after use, and perform hand hygiene;
• refrain from touching their mouth, nose, and eyes.
In some countries masks are worn in accordance with local customs or in accordance with advice by national authorities in the context of COVID-19. In these situations, best practices should be followed about how to wear, remove, and dispose of them, and for hand hygiene after removal.“

Those are the main recommendations. Context and other considerations are discussed in the report https://apps.who.int/iris/rest/bitstreams/1274280/retrieve

Some of the cabinet apparantly want to start and ease restrictions during the meeting on Thursday. No word as to what they want to reopen as yet.

As long as cases are right down, I’d think about reopening in June?

Given how terrible our death figures are, it would surely be madness to ease any of our lockdown measures until June at the earliest?

I do think once we get to June a slow attempt at returning to some form of normality will take place, obviously the fine details will need to be thrashed out. I don’t envy the decision makers.

Also, late in the last thread, some were [rightly] deriding the 7% of those polled who believed 5G was responsible for CV19. Yet what percentage of the population believe that some supernatural deity impregnated a virgin, who then gave birth to the son of god in a stable, and he then grew up to undertake magical miracles like walking on water and bringing people back to life land get himself executed before coming back to life, yet we've never heard anything from him since... and let's not get started on that creation crap.

Low death counts from both Scotland and Wales , I'd expect quite a drop in England's numbers too

Hopefully Trump will do it by April 30, and Bozo will feel pressured to follow. Now that he is immune himself he will want to get back to the things he enjoys in life, like eating out at top restaurants

Nicola Sturgeon has made it quite clear that there will be no imminent easing of restrictions up here.
