December and June are still the two most likely months to be below average nowadays it seems.

Of course it would be a summer month that the below average conditions had to rear their head in on. Sod's law.

(not that it will make that much difference to my disastrous guess in June 😊)

It still doesn't take away the pain of the +4.0 February dross we had to endure though...

I'm kind of amazed it was that low, however, it has been a long while since we've had, that I recall anyway, a cooler June and thought it didn't look like it was going to be incredibly hot from the start. A lot of luck still, to have been the lowest guess and so close.

In the CET series, i.e. since 1659, we've only had 2 years where June has been cooler than May. They were 1749 and 1833 (no surprise there after by far the warmest May on record). At the moment this June looks like a strong contender to be the 3rd.

League Table of Results Year to 30th June 2024
A change at the Top with Bolty in the lead just .1 degree from Grandad, then .92c to SSWD.
With just .3c separating the top two and their July predictions, 16.80 & 17.10, respectively, we would need a major deviation, either way, to have a new leader in July, I think

(And yes, if you dig deeper it's in the range of -0.04 to -0.01... it's still displayed as 0.0 now though, rather than -0.1.)
