An interesting update there. Looks like their confidence is growing in HP dominated start to summer.

Very interesting a complete turn around for the Met O do you all share the same view?

What exactly do you refer to laughable? The fact that the weather is changing for the better (in some parts of the country) or the complete change around in the Met Office long term prognosis?

Ok noted thanks .
I am convinced that as we enter June despite a short run of fair weather this weekend at least in the South we will experience changeable and cool weather as we go into summer ....

Hilarious. So the bottom line says it may warm up in line with climactic trends. In other words the season changes from spring to summer.
Daily updates to this are ridiculous because they chop and change day after day.
Now where are my flip flops?

Its a complete joke. I don't know why they bother. Just stick to the week ahead where there is a degree of certainty.

Gav , I don't remember summer 2013 being particularly memorable?

Last year had a good late June and  decent July but a  cool lousy August.

As for this summer as I have said before with northern blocking firmly in place and by and large supressed temperatures nationwide I am sure our forthcoming summer may go down as one of the coolest in recent years. Certainly the rest of May and well into June seems to be following this cool and cloudy and northwesterly wind driven  pattern....

To be honest I have forgotten. I just do not remember London have this particular memorable hot weather in 2013. I stand corrected.!
Going back to our current emerging summer and the Met office downgrade for the first half of June and the uncertainty attached, I still stand by my prognosis of a cooler and cloudier first half of the month , it really isnt looking good.

And on the subject of 2013...

I've just checked the temperature records for Solent for May 2013 and it was a very cool month indeed, very much like this one, even cooler dare i say. Between the 8th & 16th the warmest recorded was a mere 14.5C with a night low of 4.8C in that period.

On the 28th of may the temperature didn't exceed 11.6C and the following night dipped to 7.5C...this is quite significant for this location so close to the summer....

however...

Come the 31st summer arrived with the months warmest temperature of 23C.

By the way this for Cultman...

You can say that again! I really think the Met Office need to up their game I feel sorry for the Test organisers who are utterly reliant on accurate forecasting especially at short range from the Met Office !

There still remains considerable uncertainty in the likely weather type through this period. There is, however, a signal for higher pressure to become established to the north of the UK. This would lead to drier, warmer conditions for many, these perhaps most prolonged in the north, but it may also allow some more unsettled, perhaps thundery, weather to move up from continental Europe and affect the south of the country.

That sounds like it could be quite wet in the south with "thundery rain". O.k for the north though .

I do agree Brian... I love 30+ temps let's hope 2015 delivers later this summer in the short term one assumes for next week onwards the improvement at least with temperatures is still on !

At least it'll be too hot to do anything outside so I shouldn't get any more sunburn!

interesting outlook. I don't share the Met Office Optimism for warmth especially in the medium term after the current set of runs.
