Well another day ahead , all eyes will be on the numbers Gav normally throws in.

One thing I wish we could have more clarity on is the testing , we seem miles behind other countries.

Suely the most unpleasant story this morning

Care home residents in Spain left to die of starvation (and some did so, too)

The fact that Spain and Italy are the worst affected places in Europe must surely give the lie to the idea that warmer weather will slow the spread in this country?

I’m slightly in limbo today - I am meant to be starting my new job, with my manager bringing me a laptop and other equipment so I can work from home. Since last night’s announcement he won’t be able to do that, I assume. I sent him a message soon after the announcement and he said he will call me this morning.

Fortunately my wife recently bought a new laptop to use for a course which will now be postponed, so hopefully I can still get set up remotely using my own equipment.

What on earth is this guy thinking? He's going to do virtually no trade and trash the reputation of his business even further. Idiot.

Travel for work is accepted, so I would think delivery of work equipment is included in that, especially so as it’s a means of working from home and thus reducing your future exposure.

I usually travel on the Jubilee line from Stratford and the tubes are packed of construction workers from 6-7:30. This is even when there is a full service operating.

When they sit at Cobra meetings surely someone has the brain cells to link these issues together

A crazy (and possibly) unworkable thought would be to change the contactless payment/Oystercard system so that it only works for pre-approved users and have signage to that effect.

It would be resource intensive but bar a blanket closure which would impact vital key workers I’m not sure what else is workable.

London is so densely populated during the working day that separation must be impossible, particularly with reduced transport services. I'm very grateful that I can work from home and that the office is closed. I couldn't go in there even if I wanted to.

The volume of transport (people, goods and waste) necessary to sustain a city of that size and density, is staggering. I'm actually surprised that it is still functioning to the extent that it is.

I currently call our situation a restriction rather than a lockdown , the only way to stop the virus is a total lockdown .

It's the last day of self-isolation for me today - and what a different world it is to last Wednesday! I've still got an annoying cough, mind you, but strangely the guidelines only say to self-isolate if you have a new cough.

I'll find out later whether they want me to come in to the school tomorrow. I hope that common sense will prevail and I'll be allowed to continue working from home, but we'll see...

A crowded tube train must be close to a perfect environment for transmission. Many thousands of people still using it every day.

What is that telling us about prevalence and the frequency of serious symptoms? I think that all countries testing is actually biased towards serious cases only because it is a criteria for admission to critical care. Younger, fitter people appear to be able to get through covid-19 in 10 days without help. It is so hard to make sense of the numbers.
