Globally?

Herd immunity will be reached before a vaccine is made anyway, I think that's where the max 20,000 number comes from?

The estimated kill percent of this virus is thought to be between 0.5% - 1%.

1% of 46m is 460,000

0.5% of 45m is 230,000

We have just been sent this and nearly pissed ourselves laughing. A masterpiece.

Has it been flagged on TWO? If not here's the link. Enjoy.

Beast has no elderly relatives. That’s how he can blithely suggest we throw the vulnerable to the wolves. Most of us will fight tooth and nail to protect the ones we love. And very life is precious - a decent society will do everything it can to save as many as possible.

You make some valid points and I too agree that if this lockdown goes on too long it will create a lot of other problems stretching things even further. Hopefully the peak will occur during the next 2 weeks and as soon as we are past it SOME of the restrictions could be relaxed to see how it goes. Eg those where social distancing is easy such as outdoor activities.

If we are two weeks from the peak and the restrictions are here, surely we will have to wait  a further two  weeks for it to run down to get to a similar level of that when they were enforced ?

I know its not that easy but I think it might well take a while before anyone is brave enough to ease restrictions - too early and you could be back to square one?

Millions are killed in war. THis thing is only going to kill max 20,000

But how many more will die as a result of economic disaster, mass unemployment, poverty related illnesses, alcohol, drug abuse. over eating, domestic abuse and suicide?

Then again, you have no family so I suppose thousands of people dying isn't any of your consideration. I suppose they're just a number to you?

Beast - you should go on a sensitivity course mate

Being blunt in other discussions can and is accepted but in these times not so

We have deaths at 260 today and the only thing some people can talk about is the economy. Let’s get through this horrific period and the lockdown then maybe have these discussions then.

I can't remember who published the British ICU data this morning, but one thing I thought was insightful was that 74% of ICU patients had a BMI over 25, vs 64% for the general population

Urghhhhhh!

Comfort food and wine is what’s helping me get through this! ;-)

Obviously the article is correct, but for standard healthy eating and gym people like myself, I’m actually using this crisis as an excuse to wind down and treat myself with some luxuries for a change.

I suspect that good mental health and getting enough sleep are equally as important.

I think I’m going to have a few alcohol free nights next week though for peace of mind.

Good for you Joe.

I think we all have to have some comforts during this period.

Also general questions for everyone. Has anyone found their sleeping patterns are a bit over the place atm. I seem to be a bit more restless and and wake up always around 4:30am
