Phased relaxation to allow tranches of businesses to reopen.

Stress other social distancing measures remain in place.

Ramp up enforcement.

Otherwise we'll be back to touristy places being overwhelmed with people crammed like sardines again.

Can't believe the pictures of people outside Five Guys in Edinburgh, the burgers are about 6 quid each! Two burgers and sharing chips and two bottles of pop is over £20!

It's definitely a luxury though and at the rate of maybe one visit a year it's not too bad.

I'm guessing we'll see more of this in the weeks ahead - drive thru McDonalds etc.

I could measure the relaxing of attitudes towards lockdown by a review of takeaways.

We always do a takeaway on a Friday, and that first week, not wanting to venture out, we looked on Just Eat & Deliveroo and there were just a small handful of places open for business, mostly pizza/kebaberies. We ideally wanted Chinese, and the only open option (out of over 20 in all) was a long-standing sit-down restaurant doing deliveries. Paid over the odds for pretty ordinary stuff, but no matter.

The next week, a couple more generally had opened. Then I noticed a chippy on the route back from my parents' house (I do their shopping) was fully open. We went there the following week. That chippy then got swamped with customers - queuing (at 2m gaps) outside and round the corner.

By last week, several Chineses, Indians and chippies around the borough were open fully. All reporting brisk business!

I can only imagine this for some is a legacy of Brexit, the conservatives, the centre right. Some of you cookery loving, lycra wearing remainer types will never get over it, will you!

Obviously, this relates to Ireland but it's probably relevant to the UK also. The authorities here are happy that transmission rates are now well below 1 here. I would have thought that transmission rates can't be very much higher in the UK as our lockdown regimes are similar(even to the extent of a slight unofficial lifting of restrictions with DIY stores opening and increased traffic in recent days).

If cases in these places could be isolated, you would think that that should further reduce the general transmission rates. Easier said than done, I know.

The claps must end.

Red lines are people within 2m and I've been very generous. Far more people in this photo are probably within 2 metres of each other. In any case 2m is not enough. 8m is necessary to avoid the risk.

Ridiculous. Everyone with a red line needs to receive a police caution.
