Wales have reported a 60% drop in confirmed cases in todays update.

They have reported 12 new cases down from 30 in yesterday's 24hr update

Wales now have 136 confirmed cases

I think the images from Cheltenham, the Liverpool game and the stereophonics gig of this wend will become iconic in future TV documentaries of this country's complacency and incompetence.


There have been several Italian ICU doctors who have been begging us over the last few days to stop what we are doing and not repeat their mistakes.


My sister also told me that the greek medical officer (an epidemiologist) was scathing today about the UK stance on his daily brief and he said that Britain is now undermining public health in Europe.


I haven't read any news today, but I don't think many people still realise what is coming in the next few weeks.

Personal symptoms have improved today. Wonder if I've been in that 15% or so of asymptomatic cases. Looking at some of the studies gastrointestinal symptoms are uncommon but not unheard of. I suppose will never know if I actually had COVID or just some other virus. If I wasn't linked to a confirmed case I'd say the later. In 'our cluster' there was also one other case of a person that did not develop symptoms but was definitely exposed. I have a flow chart linking back to a confirmed case and there are quite alot of cases all with very similar symptoms and with an enphasis on the gastrointestinal symptoms (but also often with fever/cough).


But yeh I've ruled out food poisoning. Because the scope is far beyond just me and my GF. Besides she's a vegan anyway so we don't often eat the same thing.

The thought of this turmoil lasting 12+ months chills me to the bone.


The societal and economic consequences would make the Great Depression seem like a blip


And millions would likely die in the aftermath due to poverty, hardship and the breakdown of state support systems.


Is there not an argument for letting this rip, accepting 250k+ deaths, and getting back to normal by mid-summer?

Something jogged in my memory when I mentioned ‘war footing’ earlier. My job takes (or did) me up and down the roads of the UK and in the last few weeks I’ve seen many more military convoys than normal. Last Friday the Longmoor Camp on the A3 was noticeably busy with trucks and personnel.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread I saw on Sunday what looked like could be a half portacabin by the side of the road. I assumed it could be part of a checkpoint system. You will need infrastructure like this for the people who will man these installations. 


That's a visible part of the planning. The RN hasn't been in such numbers around Weymouth and Portland for many many years. Maybe not since the govt shut the navy base. There was a logistics ship used for hurricane relief there the other day. Maybe still is.


If you look at AIS zoom into the South Coast and look at Weymouth/Portland you will see a cluster of ships HMS Sutherland and a few others in what must be some kind of exercise.

My wife have birth on Sunday morning and we are now back home. I was trying not to look much at the news if I'm honest. Speaking to the staff in the maternity hospital it didn't strike me that they had been given much forewarning of what is to come. Really glad she gave birth then rather than in a month or so. Next dilemma, my nearly 82 year old father lives alone. Generally good health though but when can he see his grandson...

I have a number of friends who work for the NHS and they have said similar. Having said that though we only have v few cases, none of which are hospitalised. I also believe there are v few cases in Liverpool thus far.
