I would guess his probably on around 5 litres of oxygen with a sniff of nitric oxide gas to try to dilate his lungs there will be no panic in rushing to use a ventilator if not required as it’s not taken lightly as it has induced risk also it can be quite difficult sometimes to get one off one as the body has to not only stronger enough but also to remember it has to do it alone it all takes time with time bringing increase in risk of infection.

its a form of life support that is not taken lightly.

Our PM lies at death's door.
Over 5,000 of our countrymen dead.
This 'mess' all created by China.
Heard anything from them? Looked after themselves while the world buries and cremates its dead, tens of millions of jobs lost, economies lost for years, and they are buying up shares at a knock down price. They are opening up for business again and will mop up everything.

I had a dream last night about WW3 because the world revolted against China (and North Korea) who never put any of the wrongs right.
I am feeling very angry at the moment how that country has put the world in this position.

It isn't all their fault, they addressed the epidemic from late January onwards and they communicated a lot of useful information to the rest of the world, so other countries get ready for it.

Also propaganda or not, they have donated plenty of ventilators to various states, the New York Governor said that the 1000 ventilators donated by China will save thousands American lives. Where were we in the West when China needed help?

According to this article Boris Johsnon has never been ill and has a robust constitution. Illustrates why I keep saying this is like playing Russian Roulette.

He has issues with illness, says his biographer and best selling author Sonia Purnell, who worked alongside him in The Telegraph's Brussels office in the early 1990s.

"He has a very weird attitude to illness," she said on Monday. "He was intolerant of anybody who was ill. Until now, he has had a very robust constitution. He has never been ill until now, and this will be a huge shock to him. His outlook on the world is that illness is for weak people."

Boris Johnson: Medic explains what the move to ICU means

Quote

As Prime Minister Boris Johnson is admitted to an intensive care unit, a chief medic explains what being in ICU means and why he is in there. Professor Paul Hunter explains that if a patient is placed in an intensive care unit, it means they are "very sick", for example a patient is struggling to breathe by themselves or maintain their cardiovascular system.

It is when "you need a lot of nursing and technical care to keep you going," the professor said. Professor Hunter said that for people who go into intensive care with Covid-19 the average time people spend there is four or five days, although there is "considerable variation."

"Whether you survive or not you tend to be in intensive care for an average of four to five days."

Professor Hunter explained that those in ICU have their body closely monitored and if they worsened, they are provided with organ support in the form of a ventilator. He added only one in five patients in ICU require kidney dialysis. "One of the things about Covid-19 is often people deteriorate very slowly and you can actually start off and be quite well for a week or so and then find it quite difficult to breathe... and if you continue to deteriorate you may need to go on to ventilation," he explained.

Professor Hunter also pointed out that often and usually the body's defence systems win against the virus and people ultimately recover.

If that was the case I would have thought it would have been HDU at this time probably reserved for the like of us.

If he goes on a proper ventilator, then he might stay there for 2-3 weeks and if he then makes it, then his return could coincide with the drop in cases and deaths nationally. I hope he never needs to be fully ventilated anyway.

Interesting comment by Whitty. Suggests the Oxford study has been discounted or at least the conclusions it drew considered improbable.

Because of the slow way antibodies are generated and the relatively small percentage of the population likely to have caught coronavirus so far, the tests are currently of limited use, he told the daily press conference. [Source: Daily Mail]

To put a positive spin on that statement there must have been some marvellous recoveries normally kidney support in this position is due to the infection in the lungs  eventually weakening the heart thus the heart can’t maintain enough blood pressure to drive the kidneys in this position the kidneys would wait for further confirmation from the heart if everything is going to be ok if not I need a machine to do it for me.

To think that humans are and will be saved from this point is Bloody marvellous.
