The Met Office still holds out for a generally reasonable June for much of the UK .Lets hope their outlook continues  as planned, as current projections potentially  show a fall in pressure from late next week onwards ...

Agreed, disappointing outlook especially for those who love extended warm and settled conditions . Possibly the south faring better at times however who knows with the models chopping and changing all the time ?

I think I've seen a first for BBC & metoffice.

BBC breakfast had a VH symbol for the UV in the southwest,  and said it was not often this happens. The metoffice have a UV index of 8 for Plymouth this afternoon.

Though these indexes are reached far more often then ever mentioned, I am very surprised to see it forecasted. Truely a first for me.

This forecast is somewhat different from Gibby's outlook this morning?

At a glance the MetO update seems consistent with the NWP at the moment. Looks quite mixed and average to me but the 0 to 7 day range outcome has often been different to what was expected when it was in the 7 to 14 day window. Down here my gut feel is summer isn't quite level with par just yet and is slightly disappointing.

The lovely Carol highlighting the uncertainty for the potential thundery rain fri-sat - by not showing beyond tomorrow night on the graphics! I'm guessing there is some doubt about where the storms will be, even at this close range.

The commentators on the Criterium Dauphine say that the Tour de France organisers have been told by Meteo France to expect a 'scorching' Tour de France weather wise. What relevance this has to the UK is speculative but hot weather may not be that far away

I just had to make a few comments on the weather outcome over the last two days with respect to the MetO predictions from Thursday evening. Not wanting to make glib jibes at the forecasters, lets be honest their performance in this time range is normally excellent. Also with the greatest respect, the forecasters were sprinkling in the caveat of complexity across their broadcasts on Thursday. However it is of interest that the caution showed was very well founded particularly with regards to my neck of the woods around Weston-Super-Mare.
1. Isolated thunderstorms were predicted during daytime Friday in a large swathe across Southern areas touching into South Wales, with yellow warning applied. Outcome....... the nearest storm to us was in Bournemouth on Thursday night. Isolated storms did affect other southern coastal areas and the south east through Friday.
2. Widespread heavy rain with more isolated storms were predicted to spread northwards from France on Thursday evening. Outcome...... mainly patch light rain spreads north with a few heavier pulses here and there.
3. On Saturday, brighter drier weather was predicted to spread into all of Southern England on Saturday. Outcome..... The improvement gets as far as Taunton, with the M4 corridor still swathed in cloud and patchy light rain.
It just goes to show that even the latest computers can be hoodwinked by the movements of a thundery low moving up from the south and of course this can apply to our friend the 'channel low'. And as is often said within this community, it will be boring when the forecasts are 100%.
