Yes another brilliant display as 20 red flares light up Bromfield Hosptial  in the distance ending in a almighty bang must make those nurses and doctors very proud and very rightly so.

The two cruise ships resting in the western reaches of Dover harbour set off their ship's horns with great reverberating aplomb at 8pm.  (I was doing my 5km run and raised my hands above my head and clapped while I ran.)

Thank you brave NHS workers - saving lives, front line in this unfair battle against the virus.

Yes Stratford close to Chelmsford can be a funny lot but I’d want most of them in the trench with me they would never give up feeling very proud.

Exactly: evidence that people care and also that they want to recognise the heroic efforts of so many. We're (mostly) all hunkered down trying to avoid catching Covid-19 whilst NHS staff especially but also other essential workers are putting themselves at risk by continuing to work.

On the contrary, last week there were a few neighbours doing it here - this week the whole street was out. 

A much bigger event here this time.  Wife reports a big round of applause back here in town.  Made me feel proud of the townsfolk

That's why I didn't take part this time. I'm a key worker (postal worker) and to me going outside would just be like me patting myself on the back, which I see as a bit arrogant of me.

What's the average occupancy, Brian? Is 3 a reasonable guess?  That would be about 1 in 200; the figure for Hertfordshire is 1 in 2000.

As the testing is on people in hospital and there was data to suggest 1 in 5 required hospitalisation, that would imply a true figure for the county of 1 in 400, so your street is twice that.  

Does that mean the true figure for those requiring hospitalisation is really 10% - or less?

We have to move to semi lockdown like Sweden next month. Perhaps in North Korea or China, where fear of the govt is so great you can lock people down for months, but in a free society you cannot sustain it for long. Italy, France and Spain all experiencing many social problems like domestic violence and suicide

People will end up preferring to be arrested than being locked up in their homes, if they live with someone they don't like or get on with

Agree, this sort of sugar coated sentimentality started with Diana's death. Whatever gives you comfort I suppose, but I don't understand it myself, perhaps I am just too bitter and cynical! 

Firstly can we get the terminology right , we are NOT in a lockdown , its restrictions , you will know a lockdown when it happens , it wont, but you would if it were to happen.

Secondly to relax the restrictions in 4 weeks would undo what we are currently doing , so what would have been the point?
